To Do Tuesday #158

While I did try to hit the studio every day, I only managed to hit it a few days this past week. I was stoked to make it up there as much as I did as were Nala and Simba. They love it when I am in the sewing studio. I am still in the midst of figuring out what got unpacked when my helper was here in October. Honestly, I would rather sew then organize most days so I went with the flow this week.

I will be linking up again this week with Carol over at Quilt Schmilt for To Do Tuesday. Come join us!

Project Updates

I was able to check off a number of items from last week’s To Do list. Here are the things that are NOT project specific:

  • Picked up my travel sewing machine. Repairs were free of charge since it didn’t work out of the box. I was thinking I would set it up in my office for when I am doing cross stitch fabric prep.

Hmmm. I thought I did more non project stuff, but guess not. So let’s get started with the projects. I actually was pretty focused this week and only worked on a few projects for once.

Lori Holt’s Autumn Seed Quilt

One afternoon was spent cutting all the pieces. Came back on another day to organize all the pieces and confirm I didn’t forget anything before moving on to grouping assembly by each step in the instructions. I still have to assemble the center for the pumpkin block. I was very pleased with my focus instead of my usual squirrel 🐿️ moments.

Riley Blake Banner of the Month: Turkey Lurkey
Turkey Lurkey Top Assembled 11/9/2025

🏁I finished the banner top! I really stayed on task 🐿️. It is now sitting under a stack of projects getting flat with Not Kitten Around project from the September retreat. I look forward to a final finish of this project (and the other one).

Cozy Cottage Strip Club: Stars Aligned

I continued working on piecing all the cutoffs from the original design into flying geese units with the intention of making a pieced border. In the back of my mind is the need to find the fabrics I purchased on my Orgeon trip to see which works best for the inner border with my pieced and outer border. The flying geese units are my current leaders and enders project so it is a bit slow going. I did take the time to trim up all the pieces from October that I made. These red ones are the ones I have been working on in November. As you can see, there are a few to go. Then there is another stack you haven’t seen. As I work on this quilt, I love it even more as I make it mine.

Churn Dash Quilt
Churn Dash block done

The only other project I worked on this week was finishing up this churn dash block. It was my original leader and Enders project this month. I still have one more block I want to finish this month so I will throw that in the mix this week.

Happy Mail

I haven’t actually received any more happy mail, but I forgot to share my Sweetwater Labels that came so here they are:

Musings

Hmm. Still feeling a bit out of control yet I am so proud of myself for staying focused this week. I need to start tackling the chaos in the sewing studio. I am not sure what is more disruptive: all the boxes and not knowing where things are OR everything out of boxes where I can see it. Just seeing all 100+ WIP projects on display is a bit…..overwhelming. My mind seemed more capable to dealing with it, when it wasn’t sitting in front of me. I think it is because it is just too many choices.

I think it might be time to review my WIP list and pick a few things off (with a finish). Of course, I really want to make progress, I need to spend some time on the long arm. The completed top list just continues to grow. I feel I need some uninterrupted time to work on things. LOL!

I am the only person who interrupts me. Okay. Let’s take the win this week of finishing Turkey Lurkey top.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my projects. Hope you found some eye candy. Have a great Veteran’s Day! 🇺🇸

  1. You have a lot of lovely projects going on! I also like how your studio assistant keeps your design board warm for the next pieces to be laid out, supervises the ironing of units and then inspects the top, LOL! Moving into a new craft space takes time to make the full transition but in time you’ll get it all under control. Have a good week!
