Welcome to the first week of August! It has been a good week. the weather has been awesome – sunny and warm (but not too warm). It might even rain tomorrow – maybe. Loving it here!
I plan to link up with Carol at Quilt Schmilt again this week for To Do Tuesday. Thanks Carol for hosting. Check out all the great projects!

I was lucky enough to have a Quilt Zoom day in celebration of my birthday. It made it a perfect day. Loved hanging out with my quilty friends while chatting and quilting all day.
Weekly Progress
Let’s take a look at all my projects that I worked on this week. I had hoped to setup a few more things to work on, but it turned out I already had the perfect amount of stuff setup to work on for the day. If it wasn’t for quilt zoom day, I would have not had an opportunity to quilt this week. My days were very full as was my weekend.
Dragonfruit Foundation Paper Pieced BOM by Fat Quarter Shop

Last week I finished making all the blocks and sections. The quilt is designed to be assembled like a 4 patch using 4 identical quadrants/sections just rotated. I am very pleased to share with you what the finished quadrants look like and I finished all FOUR! It took a lot of work and after finishing them, I was ready to work on a different project. I set aside the 4 quarters and will assemble them this next week. I love how the snail trail block really adds a lot of interest to the assembled quardrant. As you can see, color placement is important. This quilt uses Tula Pink’s True Color fabrics. Very vibrant!
Spring 2021 Sparkle & Shine Mystery Quilt by Cotton Cuts

I ended my quilt zoom day adding the inner pieced border to this quilt center. I have one more round of pieced borders to add. I really see the “jewels” in this quilt which makes the name more relevant. I am enjoying working on this and won’t it be cool to finish assembling a second quilt top?
Churn Dash quilt blocks

I used the churn dash block as my leaders and enders project. I completed one and started a second one.
Rosie’s Peacock Colorstory blocks

I used this block also as leaders and enders while assembling Dragonfruit. I finished the final two blocks this week. I am use Rosie’s layer cake paper and Peacock Colorstory layer cake to make the units. Next week I will need to start the next couple of blocks with the foundation paper.

Long Arm Update

I found no time last week to pull together my rolling workstation with all my long arm accessories such as bobbins, needles, thread, snips, etc. I am adding that to this next week’s to do list.
I did attend the July Gammill New Owners Zoom call where we talked about needles and thread. It was very informative. I happy I went and that they have it. We also discussed this fall’s Summit/Conference and what will be presented there. We can sign up for up to 10 classes and a shop hop. I opted to register for the Summit since they are having one in Oregon (just a few hours away). The cost was reasonable and why not?
Musings

We made it to the end of my photos on quilting acronyms so today I share Nala with you. I have found a 95% sure way to get her to lay where I want her to lay (anywhere but on my project please!). I can give her a design board or a project to lay on. Here she is laying on the quilted back of a future project bag. I have not had as much success with distracting Simba. This week he split him time laying on the futon or next to the sewing machine (with his tail under my pressure foot).
I did indulge myself for my birthday. I picked up my new travel machine – Bernina 570. The local shop was having a sale that ended over the weekend. I am pleased with my purchase and I found a home (in NY) for my old travel machine. Before the retreat in September, I will need to get her out and take her for a test drive.
Fun! Fun! Fun! Happy quilting. Until next week,
Peggy Stockwell in Vancouver, Washington
Peggy you had way too much fun last week; getting a new travel machine, attending classes and making progress on so many projects! Well done. Hope you’ve had more success working on your list this week. Thank you for sharing on ToDo Tuesday 😁 Carol
You have some fun projects in the works. The Jewels quilt turned out beautifully. Hope you’ve made good progress on this week’s to do list.
