To Do Tuesday #149

Hello Everyone! Hope July is relaxing. It has been a hot one here in Washington State this July but not as bad as last year. We are catching a few more hot days this week before dropping back down in the 70s (Yipee).

Since heat rises, the sewing room gets a little toasty even with the AC running full blast. Luckily I only have to worry about that a few times a year. The plan is to link up with Carol over at Quilt Schmilt for To Do Tuesday again this week. Some of the ladies have so very cool projects. Come check it out!

Weekly Progress

I only worked on Dragonfruit Month 8 blocks this week. After getting everything cut, I couldn’t resist stitching up the blocks. I just have 4 left out of 24 blocks. Feeling very accomplished!

After finishing the final 4 flying geese blocks, I can assemble the final quilt section. Month 9 is actually assembling the quilt top including borders. I should be able to show that next week because Friday is an all day Quilt Zoom day. I can’t wait to see it finished!

Weekly To Do List

The cats have been sew helpful this week and definitely there every step of the way. Nala has brought this project bag kit to me multiple times this week. I guess I shall have to move it from the Future Project section to the work on section in August. Meanwhile, I hid it in a closet from her.

My list for this coming week is pretty much the same as last week since I only worked on Dragonfruit BOM 😹

  • Make the binding for ARE YOU GAME?
  • Make another two Rosie’s Peacock Colorstory blocks
  • Still need to change the needle AND rotary blade
  • 30 more minutes unpacking the sewing studio
  • setup cutting station
  • Make backing for the patriotic table runner
  • sket out the sewing studio
  • Finish the Ruby’s Garden block 25
  • Finish Dragonfruit Month 8 blocks
  • Assemble Dragonfruit Month 8 section
  • Assemble Dragonfruit quilt top
  • Cut and prep binding for spring placemats
  • Begin binding spring placemats
  • Finish the front of the patriotic project bag
  • Make binding for the patriotic project bag

Whew! That is a lot of stuff. Quite a few of the items won’t take long once I focus on them which probably won’t be until after I finish Dragonfruit quilt top. I seem to be obsessed with it.

Musings

Hmmm. Next up from Red Thread Studio was WOMBAT. I am drawing a blank on such a project. There might be a few in the early days, but I tend not to work on anything that I don’t like. But even then, I can’t regret those projects because I learned too much to regret. There might be a few that never make it being finished…..

Long Arm Update
Disassembled long arm

Woohoo! Got a call this morning and I am finally on the schedule for this Sunday and Monday. I quit doing the online course because I didn’t have a date and I am a use or lose it type of gal.

They will reassemble the machine before retrofitting it for the upgrade to Statler. I can only hope that all the pieces and parts are there. Let you know next week if we were successful.

And…..
Nala in the Sewing Room

Once this is done, I will be able to actually walk around in the sewing studio without breaking a toe. I kind of quit unpacking because it was too dangerous to get around until that machine is assembled. That means I will also be able to put together my cutting station while will be super nice.

I have continued to play around with how to unpack the fabric but I don’t have any ideas that are Eureka! So it will be just getting everything out of the box but that will not be this week.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week. Happy Quilting!
