Under the Needle Last Week

It had a good week as I mentioned earlier. Here is what I did:

  • I prepped and cut all of the Month 4 Dragonfruit BOMs. There is a total of 16 six inch blocks to do. I was able to finished 6 of the 16 during Monday Zoom call. I had hoped to finished 8 but had to take a bunch of phone calls and started late because of a doctor appointment. So felt good to finish at least 6.
  • Earlier in the week I was able to sew all the cut border pieces from last week for the 2024 Venti AG Sunprint FPP quilt borders. Now I just need to attach them to the center. Looking forward to having that finished flimsy done.
  • Also this week I assembled the background for the February Gnome is Where the Heart Is as well as actually fusing AND appliquing this small 12 inch wall hanging. Just need to add the hanging tabs and binding to have a complete project. So exciting to make so much progress.
  • Also continued working on my leaders and enders Churn Dash project. Ready to assemble another block.
  • Cut batting and layered all of my Spring Placemats. The ready to be quilted.

Afterthoughts

Churn Dash Leaders & Enders 2/10/2025

Finished the garage cleanup last week and this week we did our first load from the storage unit. This unit contains a number of Quilts Kits I have collected over the years. Most of those quilt kits are by McKenna Ryan. I am excited to find a house in Vancouver where I can set up my Sewing Studio and have everything in one place. Having the studio is one of my biggest motivators to get things done. Seeing all of the beautiful fabric kits reminded me of how much I enjoy working on them.

I really appreciated those of you who shared how you store your fabrics and scraps. It helps me think more of how to setup the new studio (when I finally get it!).

I hope you enjoyed this week’s eye candy. I am still looking for any tips and tricks on setting up my new studio so please feel free to share anything you have found to be helpful!!!

  1. How exciting – when is your move to Vancouver? No wonder you’ve been cleaning out your garage. Will you sell your CA house? House hunting is fun, so enjoy!
Your dragon fruit blocks are really pretty, and I love your placemats!
