Happy Holidays to everyone! 2024 is quickly closing on us with just a week left. Been a quite week but had a lot of appointments. I never quite got into my sewing mojo this past week but I did the 15 minutes a day to help me over the hump.
I will be linking up with Carol at Quilt Schmilt for To Do Tuesday. Check it out!
Under the Needle Last Week
I mostly worked on my 2024 Venti AG Sunprint FPP quilt assembling rows. I finished two of the rows this week and attached Row 3 to Rows 1/2 and I am ready to sew the last row. It is looking so beautiful! ⬇️. This pattern is a free pattern from Fat Quarter Shop that I colored and made 12 inch blocks instead of 4 inch blocks.
I pulled out my Lori Holt Vintage Christmas book last week to take a look at Bringing Home the Tree quilt I started in 2022. I had finished all four tree blocks last year. This week finally took a look at what I need for the car blocks (x6). I had forgotten I had picked a directional background fabric. After pulling the fabric for the block and selecting different colors for the windows and cars, I started cutting background pieces. I got exhaused and had take a break
I got to spend an extended amount of time on Christmas Eve in the sewing room and this is the other projects I worked on:
- Finished one leaders & enders churn dash block and started a second one.
- Took some time to pull the next row of my December temperature cottage and debated whether to make another magic 8 HST. Decided to go for it and cut the Magic 8 HST squares

This Week’s To Do List
I really want to finish a few things for the close of the year:
- Finish the Blooming Snowflakes? Well at least get it fused and appliqued as the first step but hopefully quilted and bound. I want to hang it next week!
- Finish assembling row 5 of Venti quilt
- Assemble all rows for a complete center quilt top
- Sew last strip set for rail fence quilt
- Cut both strip sets rail fence blocks
- Assemble corner sections of the Dragonfruit QAL
- Finishing cutting at least 2 car blocks to be assembled on Quilt Zoom Day (12/30)
- Work on Farmers Wife block #48
- Continue working on L&E : Churn Dash blocks
- Make Quilting WIPGO board instead of a UFO list for 2025. Thinking a task versus a project for the Quilting WIPGO. You know like a goal then pick a project that can fill it.
- Stay Focused 🐿️
Afterthoughts
Just now starting to think about 2025. There will no Monthly Color Challenge block as Pattern by Jen is doing something new. Haven’t decided if I will participate. Leaning towards no.
My friends are doing a 2025 temperature quilt. I don’t like the pattern so I think I will focus on finishing the Halifax Temperature quilt that I started that is supposed to be for 2017-2018. I allusion of grandeur for this project with a wide border that would have applique representing Halifax and Canada.
I know I want to get back to longarming especially since I have finished so many quilt tops this year (6). My long arm backlog is pretty extensive at this point. So I need to give what I want to accomplish for 2025 some thought. 💭. This year putting together my comprehensive WIP list has been super helpful in being more focused.
Enjoy your Christmas week. Don’t stress if you don’t make it to the sewing this week. Just enjoy your time with friends and family.

Good luck with sorting out your 2025 goals and lining up some longarming. Haha on those ADHD squirrels, I have plenty of those! Hope your Christmas was a happy one.
