To Do Tuesday #124

Whoo Hoo! I am finally back home. I love traveling as much as I love being home. For once, I actually slept better on the road then in my own bed. I wonder if that has anything to do with the mattress topper I had delivered to my daughters? 😝

I rolled up at my house Sunday night about 9:30 pm after spending the day driving from Vancouver, Washington to San Jose, California. I did a side trip in Salem, Oregon for a two hour shopping spree and a half hour lunch break when I filled up gas for less than $3/gallon. 🏆

I will be linking up with Carol at Quilt Schmilt for this week’s To Do Tuesday linkup. Come check it out!

Under the Needle Last Week (Yesterday)

I really did not get a chance to work on anything until Monday, December 16th which was the first of two Quilt Zoom days. Lucky for me, I had prepped a number of things before I left on my roadtrip. I shared some of it last week. Now I will show you what I actually got done.

First up:

  • I worked on my 2024 San Jose Temperature Cottage Quilt.
  • Finished November Cottage
  • Started December Cottage
  • Made a few more HST

And I also worked on:

  • I was able to finish the last four blocks from Month 2 Dragonfruit BOM. Still need to assemble Month 1 & 2.
  • Finished sewing 1 of 2 strip sets planned for this month’s work on Steven’s Rail Fence quilt
  • I am making my churn dash blocks as an ender & leader project currently
  • Almost forgot I had cut the December Monthly Color Challenge block. I love how these golds look together!

This Week’s To Do List

Bring Home The Christmas Tree WIP

I am a little sad that I didn’t even pull out my epp project while I was gone. There is only one comfortable place to do handwork in Caitlin’s house and that is her spot. Unfortunately, that meant that I really didn’t do as much stuff as I planned or hoped. Let’s regroup for this week planned projects:

  • Sew the last strip set for Steven’s rail fence quilt
  • Cut and trim the rail fence blocks
  • Iron, trim, and remove papers from the Dragonfruit blocks for Month 1 & 2
  • Assemble corner sections for the Dragonfruit QAL
  • Iron, trim, and remove papers from the 2024 Venti AG Sunprint FPP quilt I designed
  • Assemble Rows 3, 4, & 5 of the Venti Sunprint quilt
  • Work on the Farmers Wife Blk #48
  • Cut at least two car blocks for the Bringing Home the Tree quilt
  • Fuse Blooming Snowflakes applique project
  • Continue working on assembling L&E: Churn dash blocks
  • Stay focused! 🐿️

Happy Mail -> Shopping Spree Finds

Dragonfruit Month 3 Happy Mail

Yesterday all my held mail and packages arrived! So happy to see Month 3 fabrics for the Dragonfruit BOM. I believe these will be 6 inch blocks.

I haven’t finished unpacking from my shopping spree in Salem, Oregon at the Craft Warehouse which is closing. I was thrilled to get 20% (and sometimes more) off plus NO sales tax. For me that is like a 30% savings. Above are the precuts I snagged.

Afterthoughts

Paramount Sewing & Vac, a Salem Oregon Fabric store in parking lot of Craft Warehouse

I was pleased to discover (although it was closed on Sunday) a HUGE fabric store in Salem. I peeked through the windows and I am excited to check it out the next time I am in the neighborhood.

Thursday last week, my friend Janet and I spent the day googling quilt/fabric stores and checking them out in about a 30 mile radius. We missed a few but still managed to hit up I think four different stores. One was a total bust. Another was a good to know about and the others were okay. Neither of us bought anything because we were just exploring and none of the stores had anything we NEEDED.

We also visited a flour mill called Bob’s Red Mill which was a fun store/resturant to visit. Left with a few gifts and my daughter’s grocery list which included a 25 lb bag of all purpose flour and 20 lbs of Double OO flour. They (Caitlin & Jannes) make fresh pasta and bread almost every day. I was the happy receipent of their efforts the whole time I was there. I even snagged some goodies to bring home with me.

I forgot to charge my devices last night, so we will end here. I am going to refill my Starbucks and head home. Or maybe I should be going to the grocery store since there is literally no food in the house. Nah. I would rather go home and sew.

Good luck on all your projects this week and enjoy the holiday season!

  1. Sounds like you need to order a mattress topper for your bed too. 😉 Having fresh bread and pasta every day sounds wonderful. Love your happy mail goodies. Enjoy the rest of your week, and get in lots of good snuggles with the kitties. 🙂
