To Do Tuesday #121

Welcome to another edition of quilty goodness. I found myself in the sewing studio a few times this week after spending time in the cutting room. It is hard to believe that I got as much as I did done. On non-quilty zoom weeks, progress tends to be limited, but not bad for this week.

As usual I will be linking up with Carol @ Quilt Schmilt for To Do Tuesday. Come check it out and get some inspiration. Even better, join us!

Under the Needle Last Week

I had no new finishes this week but made progress on a number of my WIP projects. LOL! That wouldn’t be hard with over 100 projects to work on. 🐿️

I spent one day at the cutting table and two in the studio this week. I had meant to have some quality english paper piecing time but got sucked in by my cross stitch projects instead. Let’s take a look.

  • I got all 16 blocks cut for Month 2 of Dragonfruit Quilt (A Fat Quarter Shop Exclusive). Since these blocks are Economy and Square in A Square, it actually went pretty fast. I pulled from Month 1 leftover fabrics before touching what was sent for Month 2. I am going to have a nice little stash when this is over (knock on 🪵)
  • I was able to sew up the Lemon block that I cut for the Dragonfruit quilt. I still need to trim and iron everything but right now it is under a stack of project cases 📚 getting flat.
  • I was thrilled to finish the last of my blocks for the 2024 Venti AG Sunprint FPP quilt. They are also being “pressed” and will need to be trimmed and ironed before I begin assembling the last three rows.
  • I spent a lot of time working on the Charming Zuma quilt pieced borders. Cutting 2 1/2 white strips (ran out again) and sandwiching the the pieced borders with the white borders. I finished both side borders although you only see the one here. Top and bottom borders are under construction and are coming along nicely. I ran out of white strips … again.

It felt like I got so much more done than shown here but that is only because I am use to working on a lot of projects at once. I have found that when I am foundation paper piecing that I have to focus on just that with no chain piecing. It is just the nature of the beast. Plus I tend to change all my settings and foot to aid in more accurate sewing when foundation paper piecing. I did change my needle as it was getting dull with all this foundation paper piecing.

  5. Assemble Venti FPP quilt rows 3, 4, & 5

After this upcoming week, there will only be a five days left in November to check off more on that November list.

Afterthoughts

My friends and family like to say I think outside the box. I feel like I never even know where the darn box is which is why I could be inside it or outside it. So this post by Bonnie Hunter really resonates with me. How about you?

I am the eternal optimist as well as having ADHD, hence the long lists that never get checked off. Yet being the goal oriented soul that I am, I feel very fulfullied checking things off the list even if I never finish the list. Did you notice that I have now resorted to checking off things INSIDE each To Do or Goal. LOL! A trait of a true list maker right?

I started the new header with this week’s only goals and now it is almost as long as the month long goals. I can’t seem to help myself any more than I could stop creating or dreaming of new quilts. I just love the process and sewing gives me peace.

With the end of the year approaching, I have started having an urge to FINISH things. WAIT! What did I just type? Not that “F” word – FINISH. LOL! Well here we go. We will find out if the urge will match what happens.

By the way, I loved the suggestions last week on what color would look good with my mini charms. I loved the charcoal gray suggestion and definitely am leaning that way!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my American friends! Sorry I didn’t tell my Canadian Friends Happy Thanksgiving in October. Have a great week creating and living life with friends and family.
