To Do Tuesday #116

How is everyone doing this week? Can you believe we are in the third week of October already. We have a beautiful fall day here in San Jose. They are expecting rain next week which hopefully happens so that maybe the fire season will be over.

I will be linking up with Carol @ QuiltSchmilt for To Do Tuesday. I realized I forgot to put the link in last week. See above if you need it. Come join us.

Final Finish

I had one final finish this week. I showed it to you last week after getting it bound. It just needed embellishments. That is all done and is hanging up now.

FFO: Bunny Knoll on Wander Lane 10/21/2024 Finish

The pattern had the bunnies with two eyes. I thought it looked to weird so I just did one and their door knob was on the other side. I moved it. Very pleased with the finish.

When this pattern came out in late 2022, I signed up for the monthly club at Shabby’s Fabric. The club was to make the overall large quilt but I decided I wanted month wall hanging. The kit included was enough for the house blocks and three blovks each month. I have been improvising to make this quilt. The pattern in the monthly booklet is different from this as well. The wall quilt had more blocks and was bigger. (Basically the house block is surrounded on all sides by traditional blocks). I didn’t want my wall quilt to be that big.

This is called the On Wander Lane quilt by Nancy Halvorsen of Art to Heart. I have used all of the included quilt fabric, laser cut applique, and embellishments. I have supplemented mostly from fabric from Nancy’s fabric line On Wander Lane.

Under the Needle Last Week

Monday was a Quilt Zoom Day with my other group of quilty friends. I meant to prep more “sewing” things but got distracted with prepping the Dragonfruit Month One blocks. Let’s take a look at what I worked on this month.

  • Finished assembling the background for the November Gnome. Was planning on fusing but I am missing a piece. I emailed Shabby Fabrics but have not gotten any response what so ever. Guess that means I will be replacing the missing piece myself.
  • Finished assembling the background for the January Gnome my UFO for October.
  • Finished my one churn dash block. Since I finished my other leaders and enders project I’ve decided to make this one my next one. So I am now started on another block.
  • I couldn’t resist starting the Dragonfruit FPP quilt this week after spending multiple days marking my papers and cutting my pieces. Then I watched FQS video on this quilt and realizied I may have cut one of the blocks wrong. 😑 I will check when I get to that one. When I made the Apple & Mulberry blocks, I had lots to trim off so I might be fine.
  • To finish my October Cottage through the 18th I had to make some more HST for 77F. Now I am current on this SAL
  • Made another strip set for Steven’s Shark Rail Fence quilt. Even cut my blocks. My ruler slipped while cutting but I think I will be okay. We shall see when I sew it together.
  • Last but not least, finished ironing my rows I made last week and assembling the top 2 and bottom 2 rows of my 2024 Venti AG Sunprint FPP quilt. November I will finish the final 8 blocks and be able to assemble the center of this quilt top. December I will finish the top after I make the pieced border. I can’t believe how quickly it is coming together.

Afterthoughts

Well I don’t have anymore quilt zoom days this month so I will have to plan my own quilt day. I try to hit the sewing room at least 15 minutes every day but it doesn’t always happen.

Now there are a few projects in the sewing room that is not on the goals list. Trying to Keep Sarah the 🐿️ at bay. LOL! Thanks for stopping by!

  1. Peggy Wander Lane is a really cute wall hanging. I agree 2 eyes on that bunny would be peculiar. Venti is going to be a stunning finish. Congrats on all those check marks on your list. Hopefully you’ve had as good a week this week. Thank you for linking with To Do Tuesday, and sharing both the link and your stunning photos of all your projects. I agree with a Linda. Your assistant is the cutest! How lucky were you with keeping Sarah at bay? 🤗 Carol
