Hello from Whistler, British Columbia! We got here a few days ago. The kids have gone skiing even though it is raining here at the base. The temperature is hovering around freezing which hopefully translates to great snow up top. We had homemade pasta with veggies yesterday for dinner.
The kids didn’t ski much yesterday but ended up working on a 1000 piece puzzle which they finished!
Starts & Finishes
I only had one start (and finish) this week.
START & FINISH: December Hello There by Hands on Design
I found stitching the word December a bit tedious this month and took a lot of planning my route, but I absolutely loved stitching “Hello”. It felt good to finish the last of this series I started in 2023.
This series was stitched on 16 count white aida with the called for DMC floss.
WIP Updates
With a couple of travel days in this week, I mostly worked on the same projects. But I did have an opportunity to work on some things before hitting the road.
October Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (Fat Quarter Shop)
I got a little extra time in on this one because I was thinking I could finish it up. While I didn’t finish it completely, I did finish the scarecrow and got a nice start on the bucket. I am enjoying stitching the Stackables series.
Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore
I realized when I started working on this one again this week, that I had an error. I ripped it out and restitched the corner flower between Days 3 & 4. I am currently finishing Day 4. Not sure why I did Days 5 & 6 before Day4. 🤷♀️. This is being stitched on 16 ct whimsey aida with the called for DMC floss.
Snowman Collector: The Clown by Cottage Garden Samplings
I can’t believe how much progress I made on this one last night. I finished the last snowball, worked on the orange/white border, finished the cannon and started on the head. I feel like this one is going very quickly.
I am stitching on 18ct vintage mocha aida with the called for floss (a combination of Weeks Dye Works, DMC, and Classic Colorworks).
WIPGO Project: Snowballs For Sale by Bee in my Bonnet (Lori Holt)
This project has been such a slow stitch. I have been working on the snowman himself for two days and this is all I have to show for it. I decided to start stitching the little stars in the snowman so then I would only have to fill in the rest of the body. I basically have to do the white and light teal at the same time in order to not mess up counting. I think I would have been much faster if I had used aida for this one.
I’m stitching on 25 ct heritage lugana with the called for DMC (for the most part)
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
I should have my five nights in on Snowballs for Sale by the time I make it home on Christmas Day which is my goal with my WIPGO project. Honestly, I thought it would go so much faster than it is. Meanwhile, I also plan to work on:
- Snowman Collector: The Clown
- Shabby Winter Calendar
- Fruit of Plenty
- July Truckin Along
- Mr August
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas! I will chat with you after Christmas.
Peggy Stockwell in Whistler, Brithish Columbia
Although I would love to take a walk around the shops, I would be cozy inside too if I was at a ski resort! Will you celebrate Christmas there too?
That whimsey Aida is a beautiful color, and the calendar design is so cute. The snowballs in the wheelbarrow are amazingly 3D!
Have a Merry Christmas Peggy!
It mostly rained at the Village where we stayed. One night was clear so we went into Central Village. I got a selfie with the Olympic Rings and had a fabulous dinner. We drove back to Seattle Christmas Eve and I flew home Christmas night. It was a lovely break.
