Happy Friday everyone! Hope you have a fun long weekend. It is Labor Day here in the States. It is the last long weekend of the summer. My grandson is off to Las Vegas for a hockey tournament with his Mom and family. I am actually spending the weekend with my daughter in Monterey this weekend. She gets here tomorrow. Meantime, I have to do a final finish on one of her cross stitch projects that I will share her work with you next week.
WIPGO Updates for August & September
Final Results from August
Project #18 : Mr August, A Calendar Gnome, by Charlie’s Needle
This was a new start for the month of August and my goal was to finish or work on five times during the month. My fifth and final time was last night to wrap up the month. I made good progress during the month. This is being stitched on 28 ct white lugana with called for Classic Colorworks and DMC.
Project #24: Stitch Quarterly Project – Tea Thyme
This project was started April 2022 and felt great to finish it this week! It was stitched on 28 ct lugana with called for DMC threads. It was stitch quarterly kit from Fat Quarter Shop last year.
September WIPGO Projects selected
Project 1: Snowman Collector – The Needleworker by Cottage Garden Samplings
My goal this month is to either finish The Needleworker and/or work on five times during September.
Project #15: Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery
My goal for September is to work on this project five times during the month. Hopefully I can finish the June page which would mean I finally hit the halfway point.
Starts & Finishes
See above for the only finish for this week – Tea Thyme.
WIP Updates
I ended up not stitching a couple of nights this week so I don’t have as much to share with you. I am still knee deep in reading Cold Justice series by Toni Anderson. I finished the original series and am now working my way through The Negoitators. I am terrible when I get caught up with reading a series. LOL!
The Needleworker from Snowman Collector series by Cottage Garden Samplings
To see a picture of latest progress look above in WIPGO Updates. I finished all the buttons on the snowman and finished filling in all colors except white on the snowman. I am ready to fill in the rest of the snowman.
June Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives
Last week I had finished the main area with the truck. This week I started working on the checkerboard border around the “June”. I had hoped to finish it in August but with taking two days off, that did not happen. So I have moved the finish to my September goals.
Fruity of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery
See above under WIPGO updates for the latest photo of this project. I made some great progress with the dark teal outlining different designs. Soon it will be time to do the fill in.
Temperature Butterfly by Stitchin Mommy
I forgot to take a picture the one and only night I worked on this project. I had half the July butterfly outlined. I really neglected this project this month. I still have to enter all the temperatures into excel to get the color conversions for the butterfly. Now I need to do August color conversion as well.
Mr August – A Calendar Gnome by Charlie’s Needle
See above in WIPGO update for the latest progress on this project. Last night I was able to finish the beehive and I worked on the flower cart. I am pleased with my progress.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
With the finish of Tea Thyme, I felt it was time to pull my spring/summer WIPs and put them on hold. Sail Away and Let’s Talk Summer are now in the closet.
Meanwhile I pulled out my Halloween and Autumn WIPs. I don’t have plans to work on any of them this week but I wanted to make sure I knew what I did want to work on during the next few months. I am still trying to decide if I should focus on trying to focus on finishing one each of the next three months or to work on all three during the fall. Two of these WIPS were earlier WIPGO projects so significant progress were made on those projects.
This week also found my placing my monthly order with 123 Stitch for my new starts for September. Actually was a small order. I think I ordered more patterns than supplies. Like I need more projects to do right?
This is what I have currently planned to work on this next week:
- Snowman Collector – The Needleworker
- Fruit of Plenty (taking to Monterey)
- Start September Year of Celebration
- Start Hello September
- Start September Nine Patch (last one to complete the series)
- June Truckin Along
Once again I would like to thank everyone who stops by to check on what I am doing. A big shout out to those of you who actually leave words of encouragement. It is real helpful. I leave you with a picture of Simba making biscuits.

Wow the Fruit of Plenty and Snowman are really coming along! As for the reading binges..we come by it honestly!!
I love the strawberries on the trucking along!!
Boy that quote is so right on – that is me to a tee! Your snowman is just gorgeous, and as always, I love the Fruits of Plenty. I just looked up that pattern and see it is originally in blue. I love the greens you used. How did you choose them – they are perfect. Would love to see Simba making those biscuits. 😉 Enjoy your daughter time!
