Happy Friday Everyone! First post cross stitch post in February. I didn’t get to stitch every day, but almost every day. Let’s get started!
Starts & Finishes
No new starts but I had TWO finishes. I was very pleased with that.
December Sampler of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks
I couldn’t believe how quickly I ended up getting through this one. I do have to admit that I really focused on it for most of the month. I stitched on it my first hockey weekend in January and at least twice a week after that.
It was stitched on 16 ct aida Beautiful Beige with called for Classic Colorworks floss.
Jan Year of Celebration by Hands on Designs
I was not too surprised that I finished this one quickly. It is a small project at 50 x 50 stitches. So many designs are work on are over 150 x 150. It will be a wonderful break this year to finish this series.
It was stitched on 16 ct white aida with called for Weeks Dye Works and Classic Colorworks flosses.
Weekly WIP Update
This week I focused on finishing some projects and my WIPGO projects for both January and February.
Christmas Calendar by Tiny Modernist (WIPGO)
When I picked out this pattern back in 2020 I never imagined how long it would take to finish. Of course, having to restart this year after getting a third done doesn’t help the feeling of forever. I meet my January WIPGO goal of working on this five times for at least one hour each time. Looking at it doesn’t feel like I made a lot of progress. At least I stitched stuff I hadn’t stitched before. LOL!
I am stitching this project on 28 ct Icelandic Blue linen with called for DMC floss.
Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore (WIPGO)
This is one of my two February WIPGO projects. My goal is to work on it five different times for at least one hour at a time. I got in my first night last night. I am excited that I have almost finished Day 6 on page 1 of the pattern. I had discovered a while back that I had missed scanning page 2 of the pattern. I have now fixed that oversight so once I finish my snow globe, I can start on Day 3!
I am stitching on 16 ct Picture This Plus Whimsey aida (dark lavender). All of my threads seem to just pop off this fabric so I am very happy to be using this. This project was another restart. I originally tried to stitch on 32 ct linen same color but I could see the holes.
January Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
This is the only other project that I worked on during the week. I am very much enjoying working on this particular project. Honestly, I was sure if I would enjoy it. Most of Fat Quarter Shop patterns have not been fun to stitch. I finished the skates this week and started on beanie.
I am stitching on Fabric Flair 14 ct Pine Board Marble with called for Classic Colorworks flosses.
Hello January by Hands on Designs
I got a little time to work on this quick project. I can wait to finish and add all the adorable buttons!
I am stitching on 16 ct white aida with called for DMC floss.
Wrap Up
January Recap
January I jumped on the WIPGO train for the first time as well as the #24HOCS train. Both have helped make January a successful month. I started the year with 19 WIPs, 8 new starts, 5 new finishes to end with 22 WIPs. I have jumped on the wagon with 5 new series. Setting up a WIPGO board was fairly easy.
I used the app NOTION to setup the WIPGO board. I saw Frizzy Lizzy Stitches floss tube where she uses this and left a template out there to be used. I have been experimenting with the possibilities. My current Excel templates are way more detailed.
During #24HOCS event, I ended up stitching a total of 27.5 hours on my projects. Almost all of my new starts were during this event.
February Plans
As usual, I am a bit ambitious with my goals. My philosophy is to reach for the stars. If you fall short, you could land on the moon instead. To help me with my ambitious goals and dreams, I bought the digital 2023 cross stitch planner by Quirky Stitches. This week I finally got it all setup for Cross Stitch. Next up will be figuring out how to use the templates for Quilting.
WIPGO
My WIPGO Projects this month are Shabby Winter Calendar (SWC) and Let’s Talk Spring Hoop (LTS). SWC’s goal is to work on it five times during February for at least one hour each time. LTS is to start and finish in February.
February Planned Starts
I currently have 4 planned starts for February including LTS – February Nine Patch, February Year of Celebration, and Big Hearted Tiny Town.
This Week
- SWC for one night for at least one hour – Finish Day 6 start Day 3.
- Hello January finish
- Start Let’s Talk Spring hoop
- Start February Nine Patch
- Temperature Butterfly – January 1st – 7th
- Start #10 flower on Prim Stitch Series
- Work on MFE Fruit of Plenty one evening
A bit ambitious but doable. There is another IG event this weekend called 4×4. I should have that easily covered with this list. LOL! I need to run so I can kit my four new starts and order any missing floss.
Happy Weekend!

I think Simba might be questioning your ambitious goals? 😀 Those ice skates are adorable! Congratulations on your pretty finishes and on your successful #24HOCS event. Hope you have a fun weekend!
Thanks Linda. I appreciate your support and encouragement.
