Floss Friday #168

Welcome back my Stitchy Friends! Here we are in the first week of February already. The weather here in the PNW has been absolutely gorgeous reaching as high as 60. Very unusual this time of the year, but enjoying each every sunny day. It has been a very busy and productive week so lets get started

Starts & Finishes

No new starts this week, but I had a surprise finish.

FINISH: Stitching Quakers by Primrose Cottage
Finish of Stitching Quaker 2/2/2026

This was stitched on 16 ct pewter aida with the called for Colour & Cotton floss. I really like working with quaker patterns. This was just fun seeing all the hand stitching items for cross stitch, hand sewing, embroidery, etc. The bees were a nice touch of symbolism.

January WIPGO Results

January 2026 WIPGO – Projects 2 & 7

I did not reach my goals for either project, thus will carry forward into February.

WIPGO Project #2: Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore

I finished off the month with another evening working on this project. While I made great progress, I did not finish. I am hopefully for February.

WIPGO Project #7: 2025 SJ Temperature Moon Phases by Climbing Goat Designs

I did not work on this project this past week so we are still stuck on July 31st. I do love how the colors are flowing with the moon phases changing – waxing and waning.

WIP Updates

I dove in this week with enthusiasm. February will be the last month on many winter projects so I kind of tackled them first – after touching February WIPGO projects.

WIPGO Project #5: Fabulous House: The Castle by Cottage Garden Samplings
The Castle WIP 2/1/2026

I simply love working with this pattern chart. I find the textured patterns within the castle fun to do. So interesting don’t you think? The goal is 2000 for the month and I only got in 200 the night I worked on this. With the limited time I opted to focus on the roof of the main castle.

WIPGO Project #22: Calendar Gnome: Mr April by Charlie’s Needle
Mr. April WIP 2/3/2026

I was able to finish out the gnome’s hat and start on his face. This is going to be an interesting project. It feels weird working on Easter when I should be working on Valentine’s Day projects. Love these Classic Colorwork flosses so far. Although our gnome seems to have been in Hawaii recently with that tan he is sporting.

Winter Gatherings: Snow Folk by Friendstitch
Friendstitch Winter Gathering: Snow Folk WIP 2/4/2026

I had a bit more time to work on this one. I finished up my center snowman and even started a second while working on the “ground”. Love this ground stitched in a deep blue. Say “bye”. This one will be heading for the archives until next winter or gets called for in WIPGO.

Winter Stitching Season by Stitching with the Housewives
Winter Stitching Season WIP 2/5/2026

In 2025, I had decided I wanted to starting stitching my Stitching Season series. This was the first and all that was done was part of the snowman. It feels pretty good to have almost completed the first of three houses.

Plans & Reflections

The Castle WIP 2/1/2026 w/Nala

I will be hitting up all FOUR WIPGO projects this week as well as working on my Valentine projects. I had no WIPs so I choose two new starts and am looking forward to those starts. Here is the tenative plan for this coming week:

  • The Castle
  • Mr. April
  • Shabby Winter Calendar
  • 2025 SJ Moon Phases
  • February Calendar Crates small start. I have fabric but still need to load into app
  • Primrose Cottage’s freebie Sweetly Sayin’ Valentine Day start after pulling fabric and floss as well as loading into my app
  • Winter Camper

Trying to keep my expectations manageable. I tend to think I can do more than I can. With the Olympics starting tonight, I should have more stitching time. I choose not to participate in the Winter Olympics Cross Stitch but I could change my mind. In case you are interested:

Stitch the Winter Olympics

I have done it in years past and found it fun!

This is especially great when you have a lot of WIPs. I might do it or at least some of it. I mean starting something new tonight would not be a hardship would it?

I have grandfur baby duty for two weeks as my daughter and her husband are AT the Winter Olympics in Italy. Very exciting. They have tickets for the opening ceremonies which I know they were very excited about. This is their honeymoon. I have received some photos but they are busy being honeymooners! 👩🏼‍❤️‍💋‍👨🏻

Signing off. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by!
