Floss Friday #165

Welcome back my Stitchy Friends! We have had lots of sunshine here in the Pacific Northwest. I am totally enjoying every moment. How about you? My evening stitching time has been abbreviated this week due to life. I missed one night altogether because I was finishing a book. 📖

Starts & Finishes

I ended up with no new starts or finishes. Although I did spend a day going through all of my projects I had pulled for January to figure out what comes next. I have a total of 4 friendstitch projects from December. I have decided to start three of them this month. Two are quite small and can be finished fairly quickly. They may rollover to February.

I was also organizing projects because I need some project bags for all these new starts this month. I have had so many in November & December that I finally switched over to a new system that I was thinking about. So far everything is working like I imagined. It allowed me to pull potential stitches for February and March. I just set those aside for now.

WIP Updates

Now on to the real meat of the week.

WIPGO Project #2: Shabby Winter Calendar by Cuore e Batticuore

I finished up Day 19! I have Day 20 (another small square) and then that leaves Day 21 (which takes up the whole bottom of the project like a footer. I thought the little heart was a nice touch to these white hothouse flowers. This square gives me Beauty & the Beast vibes. Love it.

WIPGO Project #7: 2025 SJ Temperature Moon Phases by Climbing Goat Designs

While my intentions are still to work on this everyday in January, there have been days I am just not feeling it. I should have finished all of July yesterday. I am ready to start July 22nd. Close, but slightly off target with my goal. Still more progress than I have had in the past couple of months. Gonna keep plugging away.

Fieldguide to Dragons by Climbing Goat Designs

I hit my 400 stitch goal For January. This green dragon is coming along nicely!

Snowman Collector: The Postman by Cottage Garden Samplings

Wow! This bike is fun to work on. I love how the spokes make spirals. Just so cool! Believe it or not, I hit my January goal of 400 stitches already. Loving it.

2011 Santa by Prairie Schooler
Prairie Schooler 2011 Santa WIP 1/12/2026

I had wanted to finish this one this month. I not sure if I will hit that goal but these Santas are a joy to stitch. It felt cool to finish his jacket and start on his legs.

Snowballs for Sale by Lori Holt’s Bee in my Bonnet

I have not seen this one for a while. I had so many Christmas stitches that I did not work on this one in December. When I picked this up last night, I was pleasantly surprised when I realized I could easily finish this one with one more night. All the big items are done, all the words, and even half of the snowflakes. Sooo very close.

Plans & Reflections

When I reviewed all the January starts, I realized that most still have a little prep work to do and others have a lot of prep work to do. This week that will happen.

Plans for this Week
  • Finish July 2025 on SJ Moon Phases
  • Do Day 20 of Shabby Winter Calendar
  • Start my 2026 WA Temp Solar System
  • After setting up the 2026 excel file to keep the temps in
  • Pull together the floss needed for Ocean Wonders SAL. I have the first pattern drop, fabric, and speciality floss.
  • Winter Camper
  • Fruit of Plenty
  • Crescent City Velaris
  • Start Fabulous House: Castle
  • Start July Sq Dance

Go big or stay home. 🧐 Might be too much for this week yet I know I could do it if I have about 4 hours every night to stitch. We shall see.

Reflections

You ever feel like you bite off more than you can chew. The goals themselves are doable. I just have so many creative things I am working on right now including my quilting and art. I did my first watercolor painting this week

First Watercolor

It was fun. I now have ideas about how I would do it if I did it again. It didn’t feel random enough. Too much negative space. ButI loved all the bright colors. Rainbow is so my vibe.

Zentangle 1/11/2026

Here is my favorite Zentangle from this week. It took about 90 minutes to complete. Zentangle is like mediation in an art form. I am still learning how to shade. I felt like it still had a 3d vibe.

Everyone have a great weekend. Please be safe and have fun!!!
