Floss Friday #139

Happy Friday! While the weather here in the PNW is more spring like this week, it still has been a great week. I even got in a 4 mile walk with blue skies! Let’s jump into all my cross stitch projects that I worked on this past week so I can get you caught up.

Starts & Finishes

I had one finish this week. I had planned a start but wasn’t in the mood to start a new project. I know! That is very Peggy unlike.

FINISH: Frosty Tiny Town by Heart in Hand

I finished this adorable snow covered tiny town this week. I still need to add the buttons. It is stitched on 16 ct Silverfox aida (I think Picture This Plus) with the called for floss. There were lots of cuteness here but my favorite was stitching the snowman (of course!)

WIP Updates

While I didn’t stick to my plan, I mostly did. I just wasn’t feeling like working on my moon phases. I still haven’t found my inactive wips, fabric, and floss box. I thought we had labelled it cross stitch projects, but I have yet to come across it. Meanwhile, I filled in the gaps with other projects this week. Let’s take a look:

Spring Baskets #1 by Hands on Design
Spring Basket #1 WIP 5/9/2025

I find working on these quilt like designs fascinating. This one is my last set and the colors are gorgeous. I am thinking that I may have picked too dark of a fabric as the gray floss is not showing well, but I can see it. Everything else looks fabulous. This is the first of three designs and I think I am about halfway now.

Spring Stitching Season by Stitching with the Housewives
Spring Stitching Season WIP 5/10/2025

It felt good finishing the first house. I was able to start on the words (top and bottom) as well as starting on the May house. It has been fairly easy working with this evenweave fabric. This photo shows the “graining” on the fabric fairly well.

September Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)

This was my April WIPGO project that I had wanted to finish in the month of April. While I didn’t finish, I do continue working away at it. I am on my last “item” before stitching the bucket. So I am getting real close to being done. Love Love the sunflowers.

Fabulous House: Santa’s House by Cottage Garden Samplings
Santa’s House WIP 5/12/2025

It feels like I am making a ton of progress on Santa’s House. I had a goal of 400 stitches this month and I did that and more. I really enjoy working on this series. The Cottage Garden Sampling patterns are super detailed but fun.

February Month 2 Month by Stitching with the Housewives
February Month 2 Month WIP 5/13/2025

I was able to get more than the 400 stitches in when I worked on this one. I really got into trying to finish the barn. I think the barn is turning out real cool. Just a little more and the barn will be complete. There are still more items on this to stitch but the barn is pretty dense (like most buildings) so I will FEEL so close to being done when I finally get there.

WIPGO Project: Crescent City Velaris by Woven Wild Crafts
Crescent City Velaris WIP 5/14/2025

I was pleased to have time to stitch almost 600 stitches this week on it. The WIPGO goal is 2000 stitches. I am at 951. I am happy I did some 10×10 squares but I am finding it easier to now work on just color A (the most stitches of one color) and am filling in working right to left, top to bottom. I am not sure if I will get all the page 1 color A stitches done this month but I am sure making a lot of progress. I am getting better each time. This is 18 ct aida which is difficult to see at times. While the blue cloth is perfect for the project, working with so many different shades of blue, sometimes I can’t tell if I stitched a square or not. I keep flipping back and forth between 1 stitch at a time and doing a row of half stitches and then coming back and finishing. LOL! Whatever strikes me in the moment.

Reflections

I have almost worked on every active WIP this month so there is not much left to do other than hit the big goals. So let’s make a tenative roadmap for next week:

  • September Calendar Crates (400 stitches)
  • November Snapshot (400 stitches)
  • Crescent City Velaris (another 525 stitches towards the 2000)
  • September Stackables (another 400 towards finishing)
  • 2025 SJ Moon Phases (finish February, start March)
  • Start February Square Dance
  • Continue going through boxes looking for my cross stitch WIPs so can pull Winter Camper and Prairie Schooler Santa projects

This should keep me busy. Company starts arriving Wednesday so I could very well get derailed from my daily stitching. I am in a good place, so overall that will be fine.

Everyone have a great weekend and we will touch base next week!
