Floss Friday #124

I am exhausted from working on the Cross Stitch WIP parade. It sure felt real good. I didn’t have any new FFO for Cross Stitch in 2024 so that will definitely be a goal for 2025.

Meanwhile, let’s take a look at what I worked on this week.

Starts & Finishes

While I had hoped to have both some finishes and new starts. Nada this week.

December WIPGO Results

I was successful in achieving my goals for both projects this month. With a little more effort, I even finished one of the projects during the month.

Project #7: Christmas Calendar by Tiny Modernist

I secretly hoped to finish five squares/days this month but I got stumped by Day 22 with all of its backstitching on linen. Now that is done, maybe it will go quicker next time. I am considering adding it to the regular monthly rotation starting in February. I am stitching on 28 ct graceful gray I think. I wasn’t very good about writing that stuff down back then.

Project #20: Monthly Markings by Heart in Hand

How sweet it is to finish the year long project! It did take more than the allotted five times and some customization, but it is done. I am adding it to the FFO pile to be done. I stitched this on 16 ct dirty aida.

WIP Updates

This week I had to have two days of multiple stitching projects. One to close out December and one to start January. I spent about an hour each project just so I could at least touch it. Let’s take a look at what I did.

December Year of Celebration Season 2 by Hands on Design
Dec Year of Celebration WIP 12/30/2024

I have mentioned that this series have taken more time each month than expected. Once again, I have already put in 3 nights on this small project and yet I am only half way. Although, I felt this one flowed way better than other months. The house have been relatively easy, they are just dense. It will feel good to finally wrap this series up. I am definitely ready to move on.

August Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)

I do enjoy stitching this season and it is pretty fast to stitch if you actually work on it. I got only an hour on this project in December.

Snowman Collector: The Shepherd by Cottage Garden Samplings
The Shepherd WIP 12/31/2024

Not much progress this month. Maybe 100 stitches max. Once again only an hour to work on it for the whole month.

November Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs
November Snapshot WIP 12/31/2024

This one looks better in person.. There is actually two different dark browns but you can’t seem to them in the photo. I finished the wagon in my hour this week.

Seaside Tiny Town by Heart in Hand

This week I stitched the crab and the pier pilings in my allotted hour. I want to start the next tiny town so I am debating how I will proceed in January.

September Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives
September Calendar Crates WIP 12/31/2024

Started the vine work in the hour I had this week. Made some great progress.

February Month 2 Month Barn by Stitching with the Housewives

In my hour, I was able to finish the R. Not much but it is something.

Stitch Quarterly: Wintertime by It’s Sew Emma

I only worked with white yesterday for this one’s hour. I was pleased to have finished outlining the tree and even did a few “snowflakes”. Love this project.

Snowballs for Sale by Lori Holt (Bee in my Bonnet)

I know an hour isn’t much, but I now feel like I understand where I am on this winter project. I look forward to working on it more through January and February.

Snow Village by Country Cottage Needleworks

I can’t even tell you how much I want to finish this project in January. I am not sure if that will really happen. If it doesn’t, it won’t be because I didn’t try. This was on of the first large projects I fell in love with back in 2020. It has not been a disappointment.

Afterthoughts

Snowman Collector WIP 12/31/2024

I took time with my family New Years Day which started the New Year off with me being behind. LOL 😂 But I am so happy I spent the day with family. We had great food and even did a throwback to yesteryear by playing Mexcian Train Dominos. Love spending time with family.

I still have not put together a plan for January, never mind 2025. Part of it is because I want to do more than I should so I need to prioritize and put together the plan. I haven’t made any final decisions yet.

All I have planned out so far for this coming week is:

  • Finish 2024 Library
  • Start 2025 Moon phases
  • Work on my WIPGO project Fruit of Plenty
  • Start my WIPGO project Mr. January
  • Work on Snow Village
  • Work on Wintertime

I don’t have everything ready because life happened so I may end up working on other WIPs just so I don’t miss a night. Have a great time and Happy New Year!!!
