Whoo Hoo! Hard to believe this is my 100th post of Floss Friday. That translates to 2 years of posting. Just seems like yesterday I started this regular post. The memories….
Let’s take a look at what I worked on this week.
Starts & Finishes
I originally planned to have a start or two but I got distracted and haven’t checked my threads/floss for any of my new starts. That is something I have on my to do list for today. Meanwhile, I had some unexpected finishes!
FINISH of WIPGO Project: Pop of Summer by Bent Creek
While I figured I would finish this small project pretty quickly, it was faster than I thought. What I love the most about this project was the Hummingbird! I just love hummingbirds and this one is adorable. I can’t wait to do another one from this series.
FINISH: Blooming Tiny Town by Heart in Hand
I worked on this one earlier in the week and realized how close I was to being finished. When you are close to the end, it is so much easier to come up with the big finish! This was the original tiny town and it is adorable. I had hoped to finish last month so I could do the Patriotic Tiny Town, but I love the Beach Tiny Town too! The pink tree was my favorite thing to stitch in town.
WIP Update
With my effort to walk more, I am not getting as much stitch time as I was a few months ago. On the other hand, it is summer and it stays light for a very long time. Such a normal progression to be out about versus cozy as a bug in the rug at home.
2024 SJ Temperature Library by Kristi’s Corner
I was thrilled to finish the June shelf as well as start on the July bookshelf. As you can see, the June shelf included a HUMMINGBIRD. How cool is that I got to do two in the same week?
July Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (Fat Quarter Shop)
I spent one evening working on this and didn’t finish the tablecloth. So last night I decided to pull this out and finish the tablecloth. I loved the blue and red that was used both of which was Classic Colorworks. The red was Ruby’s Slippers and the blue was Betty Bluebell. So lovely!
January Month 2 Month by Stitching with the Housewives
I finished this big snowman this week. I have him listed as a helmeted snowman on my to do list, but it probably is just a beanie. I love stitching snowmen! I only have the top border left on this project to stitch which consists of tons of snowflakes.
Autumn Basket (Chart 3) by Hands on Design
I was on what I thought was a roll. I ended up having to undo all my work the night I worked on this and then redo it. I could figure out why my little light green lines weren’t going where they were suppose to and it was because my bear claw block was off by one square. #sigh 😔. I finally finished my first bear claw and then added all these green lines. I don’t normally like to do this because I tend to make mistakes. We shall see how it goes.
Fabulous House: Green House by Cottage Garden Samplings
Everytime I look at this project, I don’t understand why it is taking so long. It is not a dense chart. Then I start stitching ~ I remember. It is hard to see the white on the light gray cloth. It was a relief to realize that I am actually halfway now. I started with this one because I thought it would go faster. LOL 😆
Oh Well…. I do enjoy overall working on this. So much white on white is hard to work with. I know when I am all done, I will love it. I am thinking I will focus on working on the top right now and finish the green house outline and work on the white flower and snowflakes.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
This coming Monday I leave for my Zepher Cove Quilt Retreat with my quilty friends. I am excited and looking forward to it. My list of things I need to do before I leave just keeps growing. That in turn eats away at my stitching time. I am only taking one project with me on this trip. I am not anticipating much opportunity to stitch but I would hate not to take anything.
Meanwhile before I leave, here is the plan:
- Start (and maybe finish) June Monthly Markings
- Start Snowman Collector: The Shepherd
- Work on Sail Away
- Work on December Snapshot
- then it is all Let’s Talk Summer for the time I am gone.
Not sure if there will be a post next Friday. It could be on time or late or not at all. We shall see. I can’t wait to get up to Lake Tahoe!
Everyone have a great Friday. I hope the Crowdstrike update hasn’t interrupted any travel or health plans that you had. Have a wonderful stitchy weekend!
Peggy Stockwell in San Jose, California
I agree, that hummingbird is adorable. Seems like the pop of summer came together quickly. You must have sidewalks where you live to be able to walk. We have a bad street of potholes and a curb – lol. A quilt retreat at Lake Tahoe, now that sounds like fun! Have a safe trip and enjoy.
