February was pretty busy month for hockey and travel so I feel like I got a lot done with my English Paper Piecing projects.
1920 Farmer’s Wife Quilt
Block 43 had a lot of pieces and I struggled initially putting it together as it is a white block in my layout and yet I use a background and 5 different colors. I am not 100% happy with how it turned out but I am happy to finally finish this block that 44 pieces. So glad this was pieced by hand. I am sure I would have screwed it up by machine.
Meanwhile, I got cut and glue basted blocks 44 and 45 this week so I will be ready to start next time I do EPP. Block 44 is white and yellow block and block 45 is a intersection of 4 colors block.
Lost & Found Quilt by Paperpieces.com
I am not sure what took me so long with this one but I finally wrapped it up before my trip to Florida. I love the flowers in the middle and the accents around the center hexagon!
Ruby’s Double Diamond Garden Quilt
These blocks are so fun to make. They are the most relaxing. I used the same size as my Grandma Ruby. If I make another one, I think I would use a bigger size if I want to make another bed quilt because it is going to take a lot of blocks! I don’t remember how many but I know I don’t need to remember until I get up to 50.
I only have one more set of hexies for one more block already cut and basted so this week I cut up a bunch more of 2.5 inch squares to use to make a bunch more of blocks. This set I pulled out of a jelly roll called Autumn Love. So a slightly different color but should still go well as Lori uses a lot of aquas.
New Hexagon Projects Update
I still need to applique my two New Hexagon blocks to a 7 or 8 inch square for potholders. I haven’t gotten around to it mostly because I have not been in a potholder mood.
I feel a potholder sewalong coming on though since my sister would like some and I haven’t made any in a while. They are great scrap busters.
Wrap Up
Last month I cut, sorted and kitted up my EPP Quilty Box for a future project. Since the project is bowls and you leave the paper in, they recommend thread basting versus glue basting. I haven’t ever done that before so that is a new one for me.
I received my December and March kits this month and am taking a look to see if I should do the same thing. Precut, sort, etc and kit them up.
Thanks for checking in this week. This post is a little late since I took a trip to Florida and didn’t post that week. I should be all caught up by this weekend when I make my next blog post.
