Welcome back to the second edition of the Cross Stitch Diary. July is the month that many crafters begin making things for Christmas time because it takes us so long to finish. I am taking it a little easy here on the Cross Stitch side since I have a few in the works for the quilting side.
Stitch-A-Longs
Bloomtopia – Charity Fundraiser Stitchalong
Release 11 came out. I am almost finished Release one. This is a fundraiser for the Make A Wish Foundation hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. I love the colors of this cute sampler designed by Lori Holt.
Singing in the Rain hosted by @FlamingoToes
This started June 23rd. I received my floss, fabric, and pattern at the end of the week. Week one was stitching the border. I have finished Week 2 already (except for the green accents in the border) and will just stitch my border with each week so I can stay current. Loving the colors and such a cute pattern.
Mistletoe Lane Mystery SAL
This started on July 3rd. I got a great start on this weeks release. It is looking good. I am using all the suggested floss and fabric. This will be my only Christmas stitching for Jolly July. Many people are doing ornaments. There are some adorable ones out there.
Under the Needle
American Spirit
Yesterday was the 4th of July and I could not resist stitching on the FQS Quarterly Stitching Project. I made a ton of progress. I love stitching this one as it does not require a lot of concentration. I finished the hard part first. Working on the red and white stripes now.
FQS Feels Like Home Mystery May Stitchalong
Obviously May is long gone and this is no longer a mystery. I received my floss and fabric the last day of May. This past two weeks I started this one. I have made a mistake on the bird but I think I can improvise a fix without taking it out. Wish me luck!
Butterfly Dreams by Dimensions
With all the new starts this one is now moving a lot slower but I still managed to make some progress on this. Here is the newest update.
August Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives
While I do have June and July, I decided to start with August. With all the projects going on and my english paper piecing as well, I do not think I will be finishing this up before September arrives. LOL! I had one night to stitch on this one. I used all the supplies sent via the FQS Club program.
Recent Haul
It has been years since I have cross stitched and this world has definitely evolved in a good way. I am taking it slow but I did sign up for a couple of monthly clubs for fabric and one for floss. Just to get me going. Here is what I have recently received.
Other News
I opted to set aside Winter Camper (which maybe I shouldn’t have since this is Jolly July) but I only have so much time and the new PRIM series will be arriving this week which I will start. I downloaded the border thinking I would have time to start the border while waiting. I was dreaming. As I showed you last week, I do the floss set and fabric. I ordered the extra skeins I needed for this stitch along. I am looking forward to working on this one designed by Lori Holt as well.
I am very intrigued and want to get the Snow Village by Country Cottage. FQS is missing the first one so I decided I would order the patterns for the Monthly Cottages instead. Once I get them I will check my newly growing stash to see if I have anything that will work for these. Don’t be surprised to see me go with my preferred background – dark. Colors just seem to pop.
Happy Fourth of July and Keep on Stitching Folks!
