CROSS STITCH DIARY: Update June 2021

It’s been a busy month since we last chatted about my cross stitch projects. I’ve still lacking in courage or a defined plan for a framed or finished project. I have on my list Singing in the Rain and FQS Stitch Quarterly America.

The first one is always the hardest one right? It is almost past the season to display Singing in the Rain and we are just a few short weeks away until one would display America. Hope I get inspired soon!

Moving on to what I am gettting done!

FINISH: April Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs

Stitched on 10 ct oatmeal aida with FQS color selection using DMC threads.

The snapshot series is always a fun one. I had some challenges with my french knots on 10 ct aida so some of my bunny eyes are just crazy.

FINISH: April Sampler of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks

Stitched on 16ct beige aida with called for threads.

The sampler of the months are so fun. I found this one especially adorable with rows of eggs and carrots then rows of bunnies and chicks!

Prim Stitch Series by Lori Holt : Update

Stitching on 25 ct laguna prim with called for aurifil floss

This month I continued working on the border. I was able to complete the border around #4 as well as fill in quite a bit. This month I will do number 5 as well as work on the border some more. I found that working with the tan and white at same time means I have less mistakes on the border. It is a relief when everything matches!

Modern Folk Embrodiery SAL 2021 : Update

Stitched on 16 ct white aida with Weeks Dye Works thread.

This month I worked on the bowl, some of the border as well as the little motifs around the bowl. I did have to do some frogging (removing of stitches) because I wasn’t paying attention when I started the bowl. You can see some of the leftover fuzz on the piece.

Serendipity SAL by Fat Quarter Shop : Update

Stitched on 14 ct navy aida with Weeks Dye Works thread

I didn’t get far on this one the night I stitched on this. Just got started row 3.

Butterfly Dream by Dimensions : Update

Stitched on 14 ct white aida with colors included in kit.

I finished all the individual x’s and now am working on outlining. I worked multiple days on this one this month and I finished all the teal outline and french knots.

Fresh Cut FQS Quarterly Stitch Club : Update

Stitched on kit white 14 ct fabric with Color and Cotton thread included in kit.

I finished row 1 with it’s little green accents and got a decent start on row 2 this month. I have too many projects in the bin. LOL!

PULL OUT: 2020 Feels Like Home Mystery SAL by Fat Quarter Shop

Stitched on called for fabric and thread. I will have to research to figure out what that is.

I pulled this one out of the closet to work on for the next few months. It was my second mystery stitch along in 2020 and all the items came pretty much when it was finished. Then I made a counting mistake with the bird’s wing which at the time was very discouraging.

So…. I have fixed my mistake with the bird (no I did not frog). I have this little birdie back on track the one time I stitched on it this month.

START: May Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs

Stitched on 10 ct oatmeal aida with FQS DMC color choices.

So far this club continues to come late. I received June after I started May last week so I will continue working on May. The bicycle was fun to stitch.

I also ordered the new Lori Holt Thread Holder – Flea Market Flowers because I thought it would be perfect for the snapshot series. It can hold 18 different threads and I have 17 for May!

START: May Sampler of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks

Stitched on 16 ct beige aida with called for threads

So far, I have not skipped a month with the Sampler of the Month but it means I am behind. I already have June and July in my hot little hand.

I am focusing on finishing these May starts and throwing in my bigger projects to make progress.

START: May Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives

Stitched on 14 ct chalkboard black aida with called for Classic Colorworks thread.

The border took a while to do but I am please with the results. I was able to stitch inside the border everything you see above in one night which was very gratifying!

This series I have been skipping around a lot so it will probably take another year before I actually finish.

START: May Cottage of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks

Stitched on 28 ct lambswool linen with called for DMC and CCW threads.

These ones go pretty quickly but I have still had to skip around. I skipped March and April this year so I could start on May. This is how much I got done in just two nights. I am very pleased with the results!

START: Mr June, A Calendar Gnome by Charlie’s Needle

Stitching on 28 ct whisper laguna with called for threads

I started this one last night after skipping April and May. I just love this beachy gnome. I decided to show you the chart so you have a reference point for the future. Last night I only had a couple of hours to stitch and I made a pretty good dent in the sand castle.

Wrap Up

Learning how to manage all my projects and to not get carried away with too many new starts is definitely a challenge. I think I have done pretty good this month but I still have 11 active projects that I am working on.

I am always keeping an eye out for how others handle their stitchy projects. Recently I have been focusing on my Monthly Series which currently number 5 projects.

I even skipped several stitch alongs this year although I bought the charts. One Mystery SAL I even bought the fabric for it. I may just kit it and hang on to it for now. I have a new series starting in July (because I am supposed to be finished with Truckin Along).

Simba hanging out with me while I am reviewing my to do lists and blogging.

I recently purchase a blank journal to start logging my cross stitch projects in for future reference. It will be fun to morph it as I go along figuring out what I want to track. Fun. Fun. Fun.

This brings us to a close for this week. I hope you have found something of value or interest this week. Or even if you are just entertained with how I overwhelm myself with projects (I just don’t know how to do one thing at a time.)

From Sunny California, hello and good bye. Enjoy your fun in the sun.

Peggy
