To Do Tuesday #81

Welcome everyone to this week’s update of my quilty projects. It has been a busy week with me getting home Thursday night. Saw a few houses in Gardenerville, NV so I have more of a feel for what is out there as well as what I am looking for. Beautiful area. I am way ahead of schedule of when I would want to move out of California so this should be fun looking for that forever home.

I will be linking up with Carol at Quilt Smilt this week for another To Do Tuesday linkup. Be sure and check out her blog and links to all the cool projects people are working on.

What Got Done This Week

I didn’t get as much done as I expected to or wanted to. LOL! But aren’t we all eternal optimist? Better than the alternative for sure. I took my EPP with me. I just didn’t find time to work on it. I have a few more days left in January to work on it.

Let’s take a look at what I did work on.

I am super happy I am using the magic 8 method to make all the HST that I need for my various projects. Yet it is still a tedious and boring process. I managed to mix it a few more fun things to sew.

  • Finished make 16 HST each for 60-61F and 62-63F for my 2024 Temperature Cottage quilt that I started this month and is my January UFO quilt project. The timing of this random draw was perfect!
  • I cut more squares and prepped to sew even more temperature blocks. The end of January has been much warmer than normal with it being 74 yesterday! Totally unexpected. So I cut the next 7 temperatures and they are ready to sew as soon as I finish the ones I prepped earlier this month.
  • Finished the 2024 January Monthly Color Challenge block. Love the contrast!
  • I was able to finish another 8 for my Sweet Childhood Memories pieced border. I need 80! I have finished sewing 32 but only have 24 trimmed so far.
  • Sewed some more units with my leaders & enders project: Daydreamer (see featured image)
  • Last week I started the April wall hanging of On Wander Lane. I finished cutting all the pieces of the pieced blocks and was able to sew both 9 patch blocks and one basket ball to add to the tulip block I did last week and the house block background that I finished already. This project is moving along very nicely.

Afterthoughts

I caught Nala with thread in her mouth. At the time I couldn’t figure out where she got it. But it turns out she was dragging this thread throughout the house – upstairs and downstairs. It took me a good 20 minutes to follow the thread around to gather it all up. I swear it was the entire spool. At last it lead me back to my sewing room and my long arm. (Sigh). She got under the cover on the machine to steal the thread. Little sneaky girl. You would think I would notice when she did that. The room is not normally open except when I am in it, but I didn’t.

I told myself that I am going to lock them out. It worked last night but that was only because they were napping. They are relentless when they are awake, especially Simba.

Going to try setting aside time this week to work on different types of projects. It worked the first time I tried it, but I haven’t done it since. LOL! I can tell you that I am getting real tired of making HST. I have a lot more to finish between my temperature blocks and my pieced border. I am trying to hang in there, but I am slipping……

Time for a little applique and quilting I think.

Good luck on all of your projects this week. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. I am excited for your move. I look at real estate every day and dream about places I want to move!
Your list of possibilities for the week – wow!
Oh that Nala! Our naughty kitties are pretty determined when they want to do something aren’t they? My ginger Jack got into my craft closet one night and ate some ribbon. I worried for two days but he never showed any sign of distress. He also tries to eat yarn – eeek!
