To Do Tuesday #6

Recap Last Week list

  • Assemble Rows 5 – 9 of Sunshine Quilt (finished rows 5 & 6)
  • Sew last 2 heart blocks for February Table Runner (done)
  • Find binding for Over & Under quilt (still looking)
  • Cut batting for Black & Gold lap quilt (done)
  • Wind bobbins with gorgeous gold thread for Black & Gold quilting (no change)
  • Cut batting for Mini Charm Green/White Table runner for March (done)
  • Cut batting for Batik Teal/Brown table runner (done)
  • Get Current #IGQuiltFest2022 (total fail – dropping out)

Overall it was a fairly productive week. While searching for the binding, I am working on reorganizing my sewing rooms. I emptied out 4 more boxes during the week. I thought 3 of the boxes were Ikea but they ended up being boxes packed by the emergency pack out I had in 2016 when my house flooded. I finally found my machine cutouts for my sewing tables. But as Murphy’s Law would have it, I finally broke down and order new ones in 2021. LOL!

Week of March 15th – 22nd

To Do #1 – Assemble rows 7-9 for Sunshine quilt.
Sunshine quilt progress

I completed two more rows last week which is great. That just leaves three more rows to assemble.

To Do #2 – Binding for Over & Under Quilt

Continue the hunt for the binding I already made for this quilt.

To Do #3 – Load Yellow on Long Arm bobbins

I need to do at least 4 but if I have enough bobbins, I will attempt to do 8 as I have the sunshine quilt almost done and it will need yellow as well.

Loading the Black & Gold quilt
To Do #4 – Load Black & Gold batting and quilt top on long arm

Now that I have everything cut, I will need to finish loading this quilt in anticipation of starting the quilting either this weekend or next.

Once I have loaded the quilt, I will need to change the needle, switch out the thread, and load the bobbin as well as baste the quilt top. For me this is still a big step as I am still learning how to do everything.

To Do #5 – Quilt March Table Runner
March Table runner top and back

Ready to quilt the table runner. I have the backing, batting and top done. Since I opted not to put borders on it, I will be binding this quilted table runner to give it a more finished look.

To Do #6 – Assemble February table runner top
Heart Blocks to be used in February Table Runner

Now that the blocks are done, I need to assemble the top. I haven’t decided whether I am going to quilt now or put away until later since I have two other table runners I should quilt as they are springy.

To Do #7 – Cut 2022 Monthly Color Challenge Blocks
2022 Monthly Color Challenge

I am so behind with this annual block of the month. I need to decide if I am going to continue using Alison Glass fabric and sticking with 12 inch blocks or if I am going to make some 6 inch blocks this year. I am really leaning towards continuing to use Alison Glass fabric and using the 6 inch blocks in some kind of border after combining my 2020 and 2021 blocks. I need to cut Jan, Feb, & Mar.

To Do #8 – Assemble Clue 1 of CC Olympia SAL
Olympia Clue 1

I have been collecting the clues but haven’t assembled any for this one this time. I skipped the one that started in February since I haven’t started this one. So last night I laid out all the pieces to work on while I finish assembling the rows for the Sunshine quilt.

This upcoming week in a nutshell

  1. Assemble Sunshine quilt rows 7-9
  2. Find Over & Under quilt binding
  3. Wind bobbins for long arm
  4. Load and prep Black & Gold quilt on long arm
  5. Layer & Quilt March table runner
  6. Assemble February table runner top
  7. Cut 2022 Jan, Feb, Mar Monthly Color Challenge blocks
