What Got Done this Week

It has been a very productive week. I have been on a roll with both the #100days100blocks2023 sewalong which started on July 1st and my 365 Block Challenge that I started back in 2018. I am riding the wave of productivity.

Above is all my 100 days blocks for this week. I started with cutting 6 at a time. Honestly, by the time I get done with the fourth block, I am done. It is a lot of cutting. Below is my 365 blocks for this week. I have only been cutting four at a time and that seems about right for these 3 1/2 inch blocks. I have enough 6 1/2 inch blocks to put together the next border. Not sure if I will find time to do it though. I am barely keeping up with getting these two blocks a day done.

I also worked on some other projects and made some progress.

  1. Finished my first block for the Queen of Diamonds SAL with Pink Door Fabrics and Tula Pink. Block 1-1 Done ✅
  2. Completed block 13 (Tulip Block) of the Sweet Childhood Memories Block Wednesday sewalong with Pat Sloan
  3. Completed Section 2 of the Sweet Childhood Memories and sewed sections 1 and 2 together but Nala didn’t want me to iron them as she was taking a nap on the ironing board.
  4. By using my Pat Sloan March Block of the month 4 patch 4 patch (also fondly known as my Day Dreamer project) as a leaders and enders project, I was able to finish the next four blocks.
  5. I finished making the front of my Butternut and Slate project bag.
  6. Did a fabric pull on my Patriotic Table Runner.

  15. Clean up thread mess and get it organized
  16. Cut and Sew blocks for patriotic table runner.
  17. Cut July Monthly Color Challenge block

This week’s list of possibilites is shorter. I decided to set aside the project bags right now. Keeping up with two daily SAL and two monthly SAL has me with my hands full right now. Out of the other three SAL, I have decided to focus on finishing the top for Sweet Childhood Memories. I feel like I am farther along with this one. I finish another section this week and that will leave just one section and the borders. One of the borders is all half square triangles (i was reading ahead). When I read that, I did let out a big heavy sigh. I have rallied since then and have begun thinking of how I will tackle that.

Afterthoughts

Simba & Callie sharing a quilt!

With spending so much time in my cutting and sewing studios, I have been fine tuning my workstations. I don’t have any really happy mail, but I have picked up a new wool mat for my piecing station that will fit across the whole ironing station. I have been using an 8×8 wool mat for the past two years. I moved that mat over to the applique station and put down my new mat. It is perfect!

Ordered some additional english paper piecing nice to have accessories. I normally carry around all my EPP projects in one big bag. I am now juggling way too many projects so I am putting together a second on the go bag. At some point I will replace my ziploc bags with real project bags but not today. Picked up some cute magnetic boxes from Joann’s and Michaels that were 60% off to use to store the Queen of Diamonds fabric, templates, and papers. I also realized that they have smaller magnetic boxes “on sale” which are way cheaper than what Fat Quarter Shop sells to use as my thread and accessory box.

Thank you very much for stopping by again today to check out my current projects. Have a great week!!!!

  1. I want to ride “the wave of productivity” like you have! Those 100 days blocks are really nice. My favorite of your projects is the Simba-modeled bag. 😉 Glad you were able to find a larger mat that works. I’ll have to check out those magnetic boxes at Joann’s. Love the kitties on the quilt!
