To Do Tuesday #33

Shaun

The holidays are closing in fast. I got to listen to the Willow Glen High School Band and Choir Christmas Performance this week. It was fabulous. My grandson was in it; not that he wanted to be. Lol! He is 15 and has choir this year but hates ever moment. Wish he could loosen up and just enjoy it.

I am linking up again this week with Linda at Texas Quilt Gal. Check out her linky party at the link above.

What Got Done This Week

This week was also my monthly Zoom Quilt Day with my friends who live all over Nor Cal and Nevada. It was great to talk to them again and to see what everyone is working on. Three of us is working on the 365 Quilt Block Challenge with Katherine Kerr. Katherine will be starting a new challenge in 2023, but we are still working on this year’s so we won’t be participating with that one. The fourth member of our group is finishing up our PIQF project. Everyone’s stuff is looking fabulous. Just love seeing everyone and everything.

I was able to finish 5 out of 10 things from last week’s list, plus halfway on a 6th item. I also finished up that squirrel project with my friend Lisa this week despite it being a hockey weekend. Hockey was great. We went 2-1-1 for the weekend which left my grandson’s team solidly in 2nd place with one more weekend to compete before states.

  1. Row 8 of my White Hawaiian Quilt is done and attached.

Week 33 To Do List (Dec 20th – Dec 26th, 2022)

This week with the holidays, I am not sure how much time I will have to work on things. While I definitely will have too many things on this list, I just can’t seem to make it smaller. LOL!

To Do List #1 – Finish Binding Rose Quilt

I have the binding & label on as well as hand stitched all four corners yesterday. I just need to do the final pass to stitch down the binding. So exciting to have another quilt finish eminent.

To Do List #2 – Quilt March Table Runner

Once I finish the binding, this is next up to be completed. This will be quilted on my domestic probably with straight lines. I am thinking diagonal cross hatch would be nice.

To Do List #3 – Bind March Table Runner

I still have to make the binding to use to bind the table runner. I need to check my stash of green to see if I can find something that will work.

To Do List #4 – Finish 10″ Design Boards
Unfinished design board with choice of bindings

Sigh. Just want to get this one off the list.

To Do List #5 – Assemble Tula Pink Tiny Beast Quilt top
Rows 1 & 2 of Tula Pink quilt using Tiny Beast layer cake and True Colors jelly roll

Need to assemble all the rows and then determine if I am doing a border. I did purchase potential border fabric but can’t really decide until I get it together.

To Do List #6 – Row 9 of White Hawaiian Quilt

While I look pretty good for most of my monthly goals, this one I am way behind on. I have 3 more rows left to complete and one of those rows needs to be done this week after I cut some more white sashing.

To Do List #7 – Complete Week 8 Scrapiness is Happiness

I can’t believe I am still current on this QAL! This next block is a pumpkin block. Should I do a traditional orange pumpkin or maybe a white pumpkin? We shall see.

To Do List #8 – Load Halloween Quilt

Now that I have finished up so many things on the verge of being done, I need to get back to long arming quilts. For the rest of the month, I want to get them quilted. This Halloween quilt is my first Halloween quilt ever.

To Do List #9 – Quilt Halloween Quilt
Halloween center

Once I get the quilt loaded, I want to finish the quilting and unload it so the cats don’t use it as a hammock again. Of course, I need to also wind a bunch of bobbins as well as pick out the pattern to quilt.

To Do List #10 – Label Halloween Quilt

I need to make the label for this quilt. I am putting this on the list in case I am having a creative moment, but this is definitely very high on the priority list since, I am not intending on binding right now.

To Do List #11 – Make 1 Tree Block for Bringing Home the Tree quilt
Tree Block ~ Bringing Home the Tree

While I meant to stop at just 10 things, the reality is I had begun working on this block last week during our zoom call. Part of that time was just figuring out where I was with this adorable Christmas quilt. I found everything cut for the block; only assembly is required.

To Do List #12 – Cut 4 365 blocks

While I have meet my December goal of finishing 4 blocks this month, I figure now that I am back to 3 inch finished blocks, I could whip out a number of these to be waiting in the background for that moment of mindless sewing. Especially if I get all those darn 10″ design boards done.

To Do List #13 – Round 1 of Lost & Found EPP block 21

Last minute add to my list as I realized while uploading photos, that I accidentally dropped this from the to do list. Since you never know when you will get to work on stuff, I had to add. We don’t have hockey until Saturday this week and then camp, so not sure how much stitching will get done. I just couldn’t bear not to have on the list. Stop laughing at me 😉

Wrap Up

Just rereading my list above and laughing at how ambitious I am. From years of working from to do lists though, I know I will get more done with this long list, then if I didn’t have a list at all. I really am feeling very anxious about getting more quilts quilted before yearend as well. The Halloween is the first of five quilts that I want to quilt (not finish, just quilt). I’ve decided I want to to load and quilt in same day to prevent the cats messing everything up. I still have to rethread my long arm because that silly boy Simba pulled the thread out.

Cali lap time

While I didn’t finish my intended two quilts last week, I will definitely get two done this week. I almost stayed up last night just to finish my Rose quilt. When I started nodding off after dinner, I knew that would never happen. LOL! With that will be finish number 3 for the month!

The cats did not like that I took away their cat hammock last week, but it didn’t take Simba long to discover the rose quilt at the sewing machine where I put it with the label and binding pinned on ready to sew. A matter of fact, he didn’t even harass me at all on Zoom day because he was snuggled up in the quilt. Unfortunately, I forget to get a picture of him all snuggled in.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas with lots of time with the littles and family. I don’t have littles anymore so I feel blessed when the now teenagers grace me with their presence. We are planning a nice ham dinner for Christmas Eve and a lovely Christmas breakfast of banana pancakes.

Happy Holidays!

  1. Is the hockey grandson the same as the reluctant singing grandson? I had to laugh because it reminded me of our reluctant son singing in the 5th grade choir at a mall during Christmas one year. He knew we were videoing the performance, so he spent the entire time subtlety trying to hide behind someone standing in front of him – lol! Congratulations on your almost finish on the rose quilt. I love that Christmas tree quilt you’ve started! I have had to put a variety of boards over my quilt this past week to keep the kitties from snoozing in the quilt hammock. We are cruel to deny them aren’t we? 😀
We are eating out with our daughter on Christmas Eve then having ham and dips on Sunday. Thank you for sharing with To Do Tuesday, and have a lovely Christmas!

  2. I love how the Tula Pink quilt is coming along. The Green Mini Charm table runner is adorable. Yay! on getting the Rose patch (tag) on! I bet Simba was mighty cute! I forget pictures all the time.

I really like the fabric in the Scrappiness is Happiness…the flowers are adorable but of course the cutest thing on the page is Cali! Great work!

I am always inspired by your list making abilities to keep things in order, WIP, Finishes etc. I need to do this with the rest of my unpacking. I just let it get the better of me. LOL! Have a wonderful week and I know you can get at least two more finishes in! I believe in you!

    Love you sis!
