To Do Tuesday #16

https://www.texasquiltgal.com/p/to-do-tuesday.html

Hello Everyone! Can you believe it is July already?! Wow that is fast. Summer just began and here we are in the middle already. Today people are here cleaning my solar panels and my windows. Unfortunately they left the door open and so far I have only seen 2 of my 3 cats. But if they are in hiding, it could be a while before I know if someone escaped before I closed the door. Luckily this is their normal naptime.

I will be linking up with Texas Quilt Gal for this week’s To Do Tuesday. See above for link

What Got Done!

Like many of you, I seem to be having a lull in my enthusiasm right now. With all the fun things to do outside, who wants to be sitting indoors? But I did manage to get the following completed from my prior list:

  1. Sewed June 17th & 18th of my 365 Block Challenge,
  2. Cut 3 blocks for the 365 Block Challenge (June 18, 19, 20),
  3. Sewed the June Monthly Color Challenge, and
  4. Remade my May Machine Embroidery wall hanging with Soft & Stable
June Monthly Color Challenge

In addition to finishing these off the list, I had a huge urge to jump back into emptying boxes and organizing my first floor. So I finally finished unpacking all the boxes in my old sewing room and have begun the task of organizing my four Ikea 5×5 cubical shelves in my new and old sewing studio as well as my 2×4 Ikea cubical shelves in my Harry Potter closet. I think I have all my books pulled and organized as well as my Accuquilt system.

I have sorted most of my fabric that I had on hand that was random fat eighth, fat quarters, half yards, and yardage fabrics. Now I have to decide how to handle precuts and fabric bundles. I seem to have collected almost every fabric that Alison Glass has ever made and half of Tula Pink’s & Lori Holt’s fabrics as well. So far those are the only ones I have seen multiple bundles of.

While I may not have sewn much, I am feeling better every day about my sewing space.

This Week’s To Do List (July 5th – 11th)

I have dropped a few things off the list, but not much. I am serious about finishing some quilts this week in preparation for the my upcoming Gammill Conference in Utah. Here we go:

To Do #1 – Quilt Name of the Rose Mystery Quilt by Cotton Cuts

Still loaded but now Nala has “rearranged” it for me so I have to straighten everything out again.

To Do #2 – Label for Rose Quilt (above)
To Do #3 – Quilt Heart Table Runner (February)

Same as number 1. Nala has definitely made a mess of everything. That tells me that it has been loaded way too long.

Nala with the assist 😩
To Do #4 – Change Gammill longarm needle
To Do #5 – Wind 4 Purple bobbins and load onto Gammill sewing machine.
To Do #6 – Sew June 19th & 20th 365 blocks

I am currently still working on 6 inch light blocks. On average they consist of about 50 pieces and take me about 2 hours to sew. I don’t know how anyone could have enough time (and patience) to sew one a day.

To Do #7 – Cut 4 more 365 blocks (June 21, 22, 23, & 24)
To Do #8 – Change Rotary blade

I went to do this last week and could not find any new “straight” rotary blades. I know I should have some around here somewhere. It will be so nice when I finally have my sewing studio organized where everything has a place. I picked up some more blades last week just because.

To Do #9 – Finish Lost & Found block 19
Quilt
Progress block 19 Lost & Found bloch

While I don’t really have anything on my schedule this week where this would happen, it didn’t feel right to leave it off. Shaun has been on vacation since before we went to Washington mid June and it doesn’t start back up until next week. Hence, no english paper piecing.

To Do #10 – Add First Black Border on Charming Sunflower
Charming Sunflowers new black borders

You may recall that I removed the finished borders on this quilt. I have cut the new borders and I just need to sew them. Since I wanted to focus on quilting this week, I almost left this off, but then I felt like I really needed to put this one on the list.

Wrap Up

With the upcoming Long Arm convention, I really wanted to focus on quilting this week. The first five tasks are all about this. I hope to quilt two more next week and maybe one more before heading off to UT the following week. I want to have fresh hands on experience before the conference so that I can make a list of all my questions.

  1. Quilt Name of Rose quilt
  2. Label for Name of Rose quilt
  3. Quilt Feb tablerunner
  4. change needle in Gammill longarm
  5. wind 4 purple bobbins for Gammill
  6. Sew 2 – 365 blocks
  7. cut 4 – 365 blocks
  8. Change rotary blades
  9. Finish Block 19 of Lost & Found EPP
  10. Sew first border on Charming SunFlower quilt
My now clean studio windows!

These cleaning guys kept leaving the doors open while cleaning the screens and windows inside and out. I did locate all my kitties so it was a relief that there was no Great Escape.

Everyone have an awesome week! Until next time.

  1. Hi Peggy! I’m so glad you located your kitties. 🙂 Are your solar panels on your roof? Congratulations on your organization – I see neat stacked fabric in your photo. Is Nala one of your kitties? Mine tear at my design board, pulling off the batting I have on it. Gosh your Lost & Found block is soooo pretty!
Good luck with your list and thank you for sharing with us at To Do Tuesday!

    1. Hi Linda. Yes Nala, Simba, and Cali are my kitty toddlers. They are always “helping “. Solar panels are on the roof. I found with all the ash and dust in the air, I like my energy bill much better if I get them routinely cleaned. I’m still plugging away at getting my sewing room put away in a manner that I can easily find things. Thanks for sponsoring To Do Tuesday.
