What Got Done This Week

I spent so much time planning this week that much didn’t happen on the crafty front plus I had hockey tournament to take the teenage grandson to. But I still managed to get a few things done.

I was able to do the following this week:

  • Fabric pull for the 2024 Temperature cottage quilt. Still trying to decide if need to purchase more background.
  • Finished assembling blocks & rows for the center of Dorothy’s quilt
  • Finished another row of the 2019 100 blocks 100 days plus started on the last row of blocks to assemble.
  • Finished assembling all the units for the Queen of Diamonds block 2-1 and began assembling the whole block.

Reflection on 2023 UFO progress

Hmmmm. It appears that I made a ton of great progress on anything that didn’t need to be quilted but not so much for those things that were ready to quilt. Definitely have to make changes for 2024. 8 of the 12 quilts are ready to be quilted as of December 31, 2023.

UFO Resolution 2024

This Year All People Quilt is not posting random numbers for the APQ Resolution so I still setup my list of 12 items but made two lists this year: Quilts & Everything Else. Great descriptors right? Lol! I have an app called Tiny Decisions that I setup to do the Random selection for each month. I know I will forget, so I did the draw for the whole year so I don’t screw things up. I figure with my forgetfulness, it won’t be a problem.

I am going to work on some clever graphics to use for each month but since I just realized today the APQ wasn’t going to do the random drawing I will have show you next week. It will give me a chance to practice my creative skills.

Afterthoughts

Project: Done 2024 https://sunflowerstitcheries.com/project-done-2024/

Wow! This was a much longer post that I was thinking it would be. I am pretty pleased with the progress I made last week. I made a ton of progress on this month quilty project – Queen of Diamonds.

I am a little sad to realize I still have not found a groove with the long arm machine. I came across another challenge which I used to do a few years back with Sunflower Stitcheries & Quilting. It is a quarterly challenge. She has renamed it Project: Done which I really feel might be appropriate for me this year. I still have to jump over to her blog, but I am assumming we pick three projects and the goal for each of these projects. 3 is the max which might be just what I need. She is a longarmer and I know in the past (before long arm) I would message her and she was great giving advice.

Alison Glass Chrysanthemum Collection. Alisonglass.com

Last thing I wanted to share before heading out was my fabric pull for the Temperature quilt. I know from my cross stitch, that I need 22 colors for San Jose and I decided to use Alison Glass’ new collection Chrysanthemum. It arrived the day I left to go to Seattle. I opened the box yesterday. Currently, my thoughts are that I will add some other white on white from Alison for the actual cottage blocks from my stash and save the white from the collection for the borders. For the roof, I needed another color and I ended up pulling a solid from Andover that I am using in my 2023 100 days 100 blocks that seemed perfect. I looked at other prints, but I really wanted a solid. While the pattern calls for a light brown for the trees, I plan to use the dark dark gold/brown for the trees. I just love the lines and I will need fussy cut the fabric as it is directional. The order of fabrics I have decided on is that how they show it. I am going for dark raspberry to dark pink with the light purple & blue moved to the blue and purple section. Very pretty collection

  1. Oh my goodness! I just enjoy visiting your post to see so many WIP’s on the go and watch all of your progress! Your lists for the yearly goals look totally doable. Thank you for linking with TDT. I’ll be looking forward to seeing how you advance these projects each week.

  2. That Allison Glass pull is spectacular! Looks like Nala has made the choice for the next in line to quilt. 😉 I keep thinking I should do a scrap challenge for myself. Seeing your lists is inspiring me to get a list or two made and get myself organized first! Looking forward to seeing all your progress during 2024.
