Floss Friday #199

Welcome back my Stitchy Friends! Same mantra here. Busy Busy week. More learning how to create! Best kind of learning ever.

FFO: Christmas Tiny Town by Heart in Hand

FFO: Christmas Tiny Town 10/8/2026

First Full Finish for 2026 – My Christmas Tiny Town by Heart in Hand. I took a drum finishing class at my LNS – Acorns & Threads. My stitching improved as I worked on the project. I am happy to have finished. Now I just need to find a source for wool. I really wanted red for this one but settled for green. I would love to use red wool with Big Hearted Tiny Town and Patriotic Tiny Town. Got find me a wool source. Suggestions are welcome!

New Starts & Finishes

Had one of each this week. Excited to share with you what I did get done.

FINISH: Stitch Quartely: Home Grown by It’s Sew Emma

This was my September WIPGO which I couldn’t resist finishing up. It looks awesome. This was stitched on Fabric Flair 14 ct aida Whitewashed board with called for DMC floss.

START: Harvest Tiny Town by Heart in Hand

After finishing my Christmas Tiny Town, I came home and pulled out this project which I have been collecting supplies on. Still have to stitch the fabric edges so it doesn’t fray, but got it started (finally!). The start is the bottom left corner. It is being stitched on 16 ct vintage country mocha aida with the called for Classic Colorworks and Weeks Dye Works floss.

I had hoped to get more than 50 stitches in, but this was the first chart I had to setup in Markup R-XP. I struggled with the setup and finally had to watch the YouTube videos because I was spinning my wheels. Really the process is easier than what I use to do, I am just not used to it. It even did better matching up my charts and fixing a crooked scan. Much nicer.

WIP Updates

Despite being on the road this week (again), I was able to get some stitching time at the hotel and at home.

Stitch Quarterly: Pumpkin Pals by It’s Sew Emma

The colors are more like the 10/3 photo. Made some great progress with finishing up the wheelbarrow and moved on to working on the pumpkins on the ground.

Oakly Acorn by Robin Pickens

Getting very close to a finish. Hopefully I can wrap this one up in November. Those oak leaves have been giving me trouble. Since they meet up, I have had to take out the one on the left twice before I got smart and started where they match up. Love Robin’s color choices!

Stich Quarterly: Foxtrot by It’s Sew Emma

Ended up stitching this one two nights in a row because I wanted to finish the fox. I am not sure why his white tipped tail isn’t showing very well. It’s the same white. I started on the greenery before putting away.

November Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives

I am in love with the colors for this project. They definitely give the fall vibe. I finished the main sign this week and started stitching the leaves in the tree.

Plans & Reflections

I had meant to work on my October WIPGO projects and then forgot when I got home from my last trip. I am happy with what I did work on but it means this next week I have double duty on the wipgo projects. Here is what I am thinking:

  • WIPGO: Merry Moments Ornament: Plaid Tidings (I didn’t realize that I have almost 2000 stitches to finish for this ornament. For some reason, I thought it was less)
  • WIPGO: 2021 Oracle Happy Holiday Quaker
  • Corny Cruiser
  • Snowman Collector: The Scarecrow
  • Fabulous House: The Castle
  • FFO: Sweets for Santa

I went back to penciling in my calendar what I think I will work on each day. I stopped doing it a few months back and now I realized, there is a few projects I have not even touched in months. I am giving myself permission to just work on fall and halloween projects as well as my WIPGO projects. Towards the end of the month, if I have time, I will do more.

My temperature projects have been challenging. I usually track all that in Excel. I have paid subscription (twice) and yet, it will not let me access my files. Very frustrating. I just haven’t had time to either fix it (calling tech support) or start using a free alternative. It is hard for me to give up Excel because I am so good at it. This is the reason why I haven’t touched my 2025 or 2026 projects. I am not starting one for 2027 I think. Well. Maybe I will but maybe something easier and quicker.

Everyone have a great weekend! Thank you so much for stopping by. Don’t forget to leave me with any suggestions on where I can find wool fabric for my drum finishes. Wool felt doesn’t seem as drapey? I have some but it doesn’t seem to work very good.
