Welcome back Stitchy Friends! Excited to watch the USA play Paraguay in the World Cup tonight. It will be a weekend full of World Cup games and time for stitching. Love it!
Starts & Finishes
Just in case you were wondering. For me a start is when I start a new CHART. Some projects have multiple charts and I consider them a seperate project because I don’t have to stitch all of them. I am doing quite a few series and each is a seperate chart so seperate project even if I decide to do them as one larger project. This thought process evolved to help keep me motivated and keep up momentum.
On the other hand, when I finish stitching a CHART, I am calling it a finish. This is not to be confused with FFO (Final Finished Object) which when they happen for me end up in its own category. I am just horrible about that final step so you don’t see that here often.
With that said, I had a couple of starts this week.
START: 30 Acorns: Cornut-opia Tray Base by Hands on Design

I got all creative and made my own floss drops for this project. I didn’t take a picture of it but I just used the cover as my artwork and printed 9 floss drops onto white card stock. My first time doing that. Got the idea from Cathy at Hands on Design as she provided a file to make our own floss drops. I should have looked at that before sizing mine. They are a bit big but it is okay. I wrote the DMC numbers on the back. I only use floss drops for DMC because I like to precut my floss.
As you can see, I got started on class (July 22nd&23rd) pre-stitching this week. I opted to start with the tray base for a couple of reasons. One it is the largest chart. Two I think it will end up being the easiest stitch. You have to start somewhere. It’s looking good!
START: June WIPGO Project 21: April Month 2 Month: Button by Stitching with the Housewives

I didn’t have a lot of time available one night so I decided to get started on this one. This is the small round (button) chart. My goal for the month is 2000 stitches and this is 696 stitches. I spent one night this week loading both this pattern and the ones above into my app Mark R-xp. My goals are lofty this month so we will see how it goes. Watching the World Cup should help me make good progress.
I am falling in love with these daffodils. I forgot how much I adore these flowers. I missed driving down I5 in the Bay Area in March and seeing these blooming everywhere. I am sure they have them here, I just do not know where.
WIP Updates
I only have a few other projects I have worked this week besides the above starts. Let me show you.
2025 SJ Tem Moon Phases by Climbing Goat Designs

I made it to the new moon on September 7th and am now working on adding my outline to the other moons I have done. Goal for this month is just to make it to September 15th. Think a couple moons a night will get me there. So much other stitching to do this month but still wanted to make forward progress.
April WIPGO Project 14: Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery

I couldn’t resist putting in another evening working on this long term project. I would love to finally finish this inverse thick border. It will feel like succh an accomplishment! This is just turning out so amazing.
Patriotic Quakers by Primrose Cottage

The only other project that I worked on this week was this WIP from last summer – Patriotic Quaker. I didn’t put it on my goals, but I would love to finish this one in June. Primrose Cottage dropped another patriotic free pattern using the same floss. I have plenty of fabric so would love to work on this in July.
The red, white, and blue star I am working on is turning out pretty cool. Loved the 1776 with hearts. Just a fun stitch and perfect for this 250th anniversary.
Plans & Reflections

I finalized my June goals. I have so much stitching I NEED to do and so much I WANT to do. I am probably overly optomistic, but goals are just goals. No one wip me with thread if I miss them.
I am thinking next week that I will work on:
- 30 Acorns Cornut-copia tray base
- 2025 SJ Moon Phases
- April Mo 2 Mo Button
- Light the Way ornament
- Snowman Collector: The Scarecrow
- Shabby Winter Calendar
- Make Today Count
- Check for floss needs for Monthly Square Dance
Last week I mentioned that my June start list was very extensive. Currently I have purged the list to only have:
- April Mo 2 Mo Button (Stitching with the Housewives)
- April Mo 2 Mo Barn (Stitching with the Housewives)
- Oct Square Dance (Heart in Hand)
- Nov Square Dance (Heart in Hand)
- Dec Square Dance (Heart in Hand)
- 30 Acorns Pre-stitching charts (Hands on Design) Cornut-copia tray base
- 30 Acorns Pre-stitching charts (Hands on Design) Squirrel Away Pocket
Still a bit ambitious but it covers both WIPGO goals for June and my Pre-Stitching for my class. I am sad I have to set aside the others. There is always July right?
I need to watch the game. So I am signing off. Thank you for stopping by and checking out what I am working on. Next post should be Tuesday for quilty projects if I survive the heat wave we are having here in the Pacific Northwest this weekend. Otherwise, I will see all my stitchy friends next Friday for another update.
