To Do Tuesday #46

Hi Everyone. It is once again time to link up with Carol over at Quilt Schmilt for the linky party To Do Tuesday.

To Do Tuesday https://quiltschmilt.ca/

I had been derailed with all the travel I had done in March and April and haven’t really had any creative mojo for quilting. This past week I forced myself to spend at least 15 minutes every day doing something quilty – pulling fabric, cutting fabric, pulling threads, looking at patterns, blogging, etc. I feel like today, I am finally past the road block. Yesterday and today I have really made some inroads into the sewing room.

What Got Done This Week

I mostly pulled fabric and cut for my SAL/QAL this past week. Just touching the beautiful fabric can be so inspiring.

  1. Purchased those bobbins I need to start appliquing my On Wander Lane quilt.
  2. Finished sewing April Monthly Color Challenge block
  3. Finished cutting the Scrappiness is Happiness apple block
  4. Finished cutting the next Medium Log Cabin and Small Log Cabin blocks for the Tula Pink Butterfly quilt. For the medium, I had to cut 2 each of 3 different colorways with a total of 6 fabrics for each block. The small had a total of 16 blocks with 4 fabrics each. The purple colorway had to have 6 blocks and the other 5 just 2 each. A lot of blocks to cut.
  5. I started sewing on the Medium Log Cabin last night. I finished first 3 colors.

While I didn’t make major inroads into my to do list, I did make significant progress.

APQ Resolution 2023 Status

  • January – Mama Gypsy Quilt – ready to quilt
  • February – Rainbow Half Square Triangle quilt – needs borders
  • March – Tula Pink Tiny Beast Quilt – Needs borders
  • April – Rainbow Log Cabin Quilt – Needs Top & Bottom borders
  • May – Halloween Quilt – Ready to Quilt

To Do List for Week May 9th

I am thinking this upcoming week should be way more productive then the past few weeks since I am starting to feel the creative juices flowing.

  1. Finish Love Note Potholders (at least one set out of the two).
  2. Finish Flowers Wall Hanging (which should be displayed in May)
  3. Finally start applique on Shamrock Ridge House block. There is a total of 9 colors for this block. If I can get at least 3 colors done, that would be awesome.
  4. Finish making the 4 March BOMs that are sitting next to my sewing machine.
  5. Cut 2 more Sweet Childhood Memories blocks
  6. Cut July 3rd & 4 th 365 blocks
  7. Pull fabric for May Monthly Color Challenge block
  8. Finish sewing the Medium Log Cabin blocks for the Tula Pink Butterfly Quilt.
  9. Start on the Small Log Cabin blocks for the Tula Pink Butterfly Quilt.
  10. Sew both of the already cut Scrappiness is Happiness blocks – Twinkle Star & Apple
  11. Rewatch YouTube video on Long Arm maintenance
  12. Load Mama gypsy on long arm
  13. Pull out my English Paper Piecing and see where I am and what project I want to work on. Setting a goal to work on each day for just 15 minutes starting today.

That should give me plenty of options to keep me busy for the rest of the week.

Wrap Up

It will be Mother’s Day here in the United States this Sunday. I want to send warm wishes to everyone and remind you quilting is for fun. I am very goal oriented and sometimes get too caught up in my goals. I have to remind myself to enjoy the journey and not to worry about the destination.

Thank each and everyone of you for the words of encouragement. I leave you pictures of kitties sticking close to my side. As I am typing Simba is head butting me and trying to get me to pet him instead of type. LOL!

Once again, a big thanks for stopping by to check out my quilty projects today!

Happy Mother’s Day!

  1. Peggy it’s good to see you have some of your mojo back. Just looking at the list of all all of the fabric cutting you did is great. Then you managed some sewing, too! Thank you for the sweet Mother’s Day wishes and for linking with To Do Tuesday. I hope your Mother’s Day was splendid and you had some fun and plenty of fabric time this week.

  2. What a lovely Mother’s Day wish Peggy! You are right, we need to remember quilting is fun, and I like that you refer to the goals you listed as “option” – I need to remember that! Thank you for sharing your sweet and pretty kitties with us – I love to see them.
