To Do Tuesday #167

Welcome back to my blog Quilty Friends. Today we will be checking out where I stand with my love of all things quilting!

I will be linking up with Carol @ Quilt Schmilt who is host to linkup party for To Do Tuesday. We post weekly a to do list (I am overboard so don’t pay attention to what I do). So many lovely projects to look at.

Project Update

This will be quick. I only worked on one project this week. The rest of my time was spent fondling fabric.

Queen of Diamonds EPP project by Pink Door Fabrics

I spent a few different days working on this project. I am happy that the urge to work on this project was strong this week. I was able to make some significant progress this week.

I was able to finish making each half of my hexie. The instructions suggest assembling a different way, but I like having a straight edge to sew versus the y-seams. Now I am assembling all six hexies.

I went ahead and assembled the next step to test it out. Of course, I am doing it my preferred way, not per the instructions. I attached the pink and teal equalilateral triangles. Then I laid out it against the top and bottom of my diamonds. Looks great right?

I find so much peace in slow stitching. The rhythm of the needle moving through the fabric as you catch a few threads. It always amazes me how well hand stitching stands up over time. I use a #9 applique needle with aurfil 50 wt thread and a whip stitch. I do a quilters knot at the beginning and end and at each join to strengthen the seam. Making a block by hand has increased my understanding of quilt construction. EPP is a perfect travel project – small and easy to work. 🤩

Happy Mail

It continues to roll in. This week I started putting my fabrics on the minibolts that came last week. I realized real quick that the “fat quarter” size was going to be the winner so I placed more orders for that size as well as the metal clips. I started using Create Room’s medium In View totes and am very excited about them. But they are pretty expensive. I will work with what I have for now before deciding on whether to order more. Those packages already arrived!

Musing

Had some time to reflect this week on how I am living my best life. It gives me great joy to create. I am definitely enjoying creating in all those quilty ways – applique, english paper piecing, foundation paper piecing, machine piecing, embroidery, quilting, etc. Expanding into other mediums I have used over the years has also given me great joy – papercrafting, watercolor, drawing, cross stitch, painting, etc.

Giving a moment of thanks for being blessed to follow my creative soul.

Everyone have a great week and thank you for stopping by Quilty friends.
