To Do Tuesday #165

We made it to 2026 my quilty friends! I hope you are enjoying the new year. We have had some interesting weather for this year already here in Vancouver, Washington. We have had rain, sunshine, sleet and in the mountains there was fresh powder then it rained. It all melted here. I am snug as a bug. The weather hasn’t bothered me at all.

I will linking up with Carol @ Quilt Schmilt for To Do Tuesday Link Up. Check it out.

2026 WIPGO Goals for Quilting and Long Arm

January 2026 WIPGO – Projects 2 & 7

This year I made two bingo cards for my quilting life – One for Quilt projects and One for the Long Arm. I decided to set these up as goals versus projects to work on.

Quilting #2 = Bind a project
Kitten Around Finish 9/16/2025

I decided this week that this would be my project to accomplish this goal. It is a small wallhanging which makes it very doable. See below for this week’s update on this project. Steps to complete during January are:

  1. Layer wall hanging
  2. Quilt wall hanging
  3. Make sleeve and label
  4. Now BIND the quilt.

This will end up being my first finish of 2026!

Long Arm #2 = Edge to Edge Design
First Quilt off the Long Arm – Green Jelly Roll Race Quilt for Jannes

I haven’t decided on which quilt this will be. Because I have not actually stitched on the new Statler long arm yet due to many factors I have a number of steps that I will need to do:

  1. I will need to take the Edge To Edge training (video)
  2. Make a list of the steps to be followed
  3. Pick a project to stitch. I am thinking this first one might be something simple like a table runner or another small item.
  4. Then it will be time to load the project onto the long arm
  5. Now Stitch!
Quilting #7 – Finish an EPP Block
Queen of Diamonds Block 3-4 book

I picked the Queen of Diamonds Block 3-4. I have finished a couple of the units but I still need to:

  1. Build inner circle units ( with strips around the center block)
  2. Then I finished the first half, now I need to make the second half then complete the unit.
  3. Attach all these inner units to the center hexagon.
  4. Now it will be time to attach the top & bottom of the diamond block.
Long Arm #7 – Use a fill in a quilt
Long Arm Studio – Newly retrofited Gammill Statler

While I have heard of this technique (hence a square on the bingo) but I have no clue what I need to do. I need to watch the lesson for this technique and review all my notes from the Gammill summit. If it works out I might be able to do this with Goal #2, but only if I do a full size quilt. We shall see after I find out what to do. I do not know what the steps are, but I do know I have to do this first:

  1. Watch New Owner Training Lesson on Fill.
  2. Make a list of steps to do
  3. Review Gammill Summitt class notes that discussed this.

Project Updates

Hmmm. Still trying to hit the sewing studio every day for at least 15 minutes. This week only made it 3 times 😣.

I don’t think I actually sewed any of those times – only cutting, prepping, and organizing.

Riley Blake Monthly Wallhanging: Not My Kitten
Not My Kitten WIP ready to quilt

I choose this project to be my WIPGO quilting project – TO BIND.

So this week I pieced together some batting and cut the backing. Layered and pinned everything. Set to quilt!

Let’s Talk Autumn Pillow
Let’s Talk Autumn pillow WIP

I found this project last week (and talked about it on Floss Friday). This week I pulled out all the fabrics and decided on the three fabrics that will be used for this pillow. I also read the directions (for once). I was tired so decided not to cut or sew the day I was working on this one.

Riley Blake Wall Hanging: Joy
Background for the Joy Wallhanging

I tried to work on this one. I spent at least an hour pawing through my stuff looking for my fusible web. I found a ton of fusible fleece and interfacing, but no fusible web. That meant I need to purchase some. I went to 3 different stores before I found some that would work. Very annoying not having a real fabric store anymore. We only have craft stores with fabric. Maybe I should have tried a quilt shop? My past experience is 50/50 whether a quilt store will carry what I need. I found an insert for my cubicles that will work to organize these rolls in the future. I just need to go to Ikea to get it.

Lori Holt’s Bring Home the Christmas Tree
Fabric pull for Car Block Bringing Home the Tree

I spent the most time working on this project (but took no pictures 🙄📸). The above photo was the fabrics that I found in my project box. Time was spent organizing and figuring out what I did before the big 2025 move.

  • It turns out that I had finished the four tree only blocks.
  • I had cut all six trees for the car block and
  • I had even sewn five of the tree units.
  • I had cut all the background pieces for the car block
  • Cut all the windows for the six cars
  • Call all the tires & hubs for the six car blocks

I was having a hard time originally figuring out what was cut and what still needed to be cut. I spent one day scanning the pattern so I could load it in my iPad. I find it easier to write my notes on the iPad versus in my nice Lori Holt book.

Finally I revisited my car fabric choices. The Alison Glass Christmas collection has a lot of directional fabrics. When I assembled the fabric in 2025 I was using all Christmas fabric except for the blue. This week, I decided that since my background is all diamonds, I did not want that in my cars (at least not the main color of the bodies). I set aside all the leftover fabrics for when I decide on trim fabric.

Then I actually began cutting the car ”body” pieces. I got 3 of the 6 cars cut out. Car colors I decided on were: Yellow, Blue, Green, Teal, Aqua, and Pink. Sorry about no pictures.

Musings

Lol! This is definitely me although it would be nice to finish that 2009 quilt….

I have my list of WIPS here.

I am slowly reorganizing my website as I reorganize my sewing studio. It will take a while (and some more learning on my part.). Bear with me. I have created pages which are more permanent. Galleries is currently showcasing my finishes for the past few years. In February after having my first 2026 finish, I will move 2025 finishes to Galleries.

For now I am going to leave my sidebar with my monthly goals but the WIPGO lists will eventually be moved.

My big 2026 goal is to final finish 12 quilts and 12 cross stitch projects. I look forward to this finally happening. It has been a goal for five years. This is the year it will happen. Right?! LOL.

Have a great week. Thanks for checking in my quilty friends. Be productive and stay dry.

  1. Peggy I think you did well with your list this week. It sounds as if you managed plenty of time in your studio space, organizing and planning. Congratulations. Thank you for sharing on To Do Tuesday. Good luck with this week’s list. I hope you are enjoying learning all the things on your longarm. 😉 Carol
