To Do Tuesday #147

Hello Everyone! Hope your Fourth of July was relaxing. It was my first in Vancouver. I didn’t SEE 👀 any fireworks 🎆 but I sure did hear 👂🏻it. Otherwiser it was a pretty chill day. The weather was overcast but nice. I enjoyed it before the heat 🥵 wave started on the Fifth.

I will be linking up with Carol over at Quilt Schmilt for To Do Tuesday linkup. Check it out.

I am still not getting up to the sewing studio as often now that it is on the second floor versus the first. Lucky for me, Monday was a Quilt Zoom Day with the ladies in California/Nevada. I had planned on cutting Month 7 of Dragonfruit but never got around to it. Yet, I still had stuff ready to sew. Let’s take a look.

Weekly Progress

I am happy to share with you what I was able to work on this week:

  • I finished sewing the Rail Fence strip set that has been hanging out for a few weeks now. I even subcut the strip set into the final four blocks. I think it may be time to order the design wall. (top right photo)
  • I assembled the top and bottom units of Are You Game? – 2020 Mystery Quilt by Cotton Cuts as well as adding the inner and outer borders. We have a finished quilt top! (top left photo)
  • I did finish two Miss Rosie’s Peacock Colorstory blocks and am halfway through a third. (Middle photo)
  • Finally found my Patriotic Table Runner (last night) and
  • Found all the pieces of the patriotic project bag (except for the instructions 👿)

I ended up stopping early yesterday due to hunger. LOL! Okay well I stopped at 3:30 instead of 4. Hung out with my new patio furniture eating an early dinner while the cats roamed the yard. It was a high of 86F here so they were not happy that I would not leave the patio door open nor stay outside. 😼

Weekly To Do List

When I saw this acronoym, I had to laugh. There are definitely times I wish the seams would iron themselves, but for the most part I am okay with ironing. Here is my updated To Do List for this next week.

  • Make the binding for ARE YOU GAME? Quilt top while I still know where it is.
  • Find a backing for the ARE YOU GAME? (Or make it?)
  • Make another two Rosie’s Peacock Colorstory blocks
  • Still need to change my needle
  • Still need to change the rotary blade
  • 30 more minutes working on the sewing studio unpacking
  • Setup ironing station
  • Setup cutting station
  • Quilt Patriotic table runner
  • Find pattern for the patriotic project bag
  • Sketch out the sewing studio floor plan
  • Finish the Ruby’s Garden block 25
  • Cut Dragonfruit Month 8 blocks

Musings

I have been 100% distracted since the new patio furniture arrived last Thursday. I am loving how comfy and how awesome the view is of the sky and trees. It is a lot of fun watching the cats cavorting around the backyard. They get puffy (hair sticking up) often. They have been indoor cats for the past 5 years.

The more I work in the new sewing space, the more I really want a standing desk to go between my two sewing machine desks. A very long time ago I had a U shaped space and I am thinking I would really enjoy that again. Besides, I usually have everything on wheels so it is not too hard to move things around. I have also determined that I will have machines NOT facing the window. Instead I plan to get some kind of table top to put in front of the window so that the cats can gaze out without being in my way.

Really looking forward to having my first design wall. I think that will be so cool. Meanwhile, I am impatient for Gammill to firm up the date when they will reassemble (and upgrade) my long arm. I just added another top to be quilted to the long list I already have (see sidebar).

Good luck on all your projects. Wishing you a very productive week. Thanks for stopping by.

Happy Quilting!

  1. Peggy you did have another great week. Are you Game is beautiful. So is your new patio furniture. It’s no wonder you get distracted by the back yard if the cats are enjoying it that much. Hope you’ve managed to get things sorted a bit more and have a delivery date finally. Thanks for joining ToDo Tuesday.
