To Do Tuesday #138

Hello Everyone! I know it has been almost a month since I posted anything quilty. It has been a busy month. I finished packing up all my stuff and my cats and officially moved April 11th to Vancouver, Washington. I have not got to sew yet this month but this week I finally did some English Paper Piecing just because I needed it.

What Got Done This Week

Queen of Diamonds Block 3-3 Finished 4/21/2025

My sewing studio is just stacks of boxes 📦 that I finally tried to sort of organized on Monday. Unfortunately, it is not a priority as I am still trying to unpack the kitchen and my bedroom. I am living in chaos at the moment but am slowly working towards getting that chaos organized. So for Zoom Quilt Day which was Monday I:

  • Finished Queen of Diamonds block 3-3 above and
  • Started on Farmers Wife 1920 Block 49 seen above.

It felt good to do something, unfortunately I was unable to work on any machine projects because when I unloaded my sewing machine it would not turn on. I worked on it for two days until I finally looked up where to take and gave them a call.

Today found me in Portland (only 20 minutes from the house!) with my machine where a nice young man Nate with Montavilla Sewing Center in Portland worked on it while I waited. I have no idea if they just felt sorry for me or if this is their normal service. I was super impressed to see him take apart my girl and get her up and running after replacing the power supply board in her. I went home with a working machine!!!!!!! Tomorrow I will carry her back upstairs but not today.

What I Hope to Do Next Week

To be honest I do not plan to do much in the sewing studio, but here are my tenative plans:

  • Get my Bernina 880 back on the sewing table
  • Pull out my Tula Pink Foundation Paper Piecing project (Dragonfruit) and cut month 6 (Month 7 arrived already so now I am behind)
  • Clean my Ikea 4×4 shelving and start unpacking project and books
  • Get a quote from Gammill to get my long arm reassembled (it is currently laying in pieces) and on the schedule
  • Check in with the California Sewing & Vaccum in San Jose to get an update on my Bernina 770QE which got shipped to Chicago Bernina for repairs
  • Order samples for my future design wall

That’s it.

Afterthoughts

April is pretty much shot to heck with moving. I am also in the throws of prepping my California house to be sold (to pay for the Washington house). Cash is flying everywhere and I am feeling super poor. Lucky for me, I have a stash I can work with for months…. As soon as I unpack it anyway. 😆

This post will NOT be linked up with To Do Tuesday because I just didn’t feel like there was much to share. But y’all should check it out. Carol loves it when people stop by.

Have a great week and good luck on all your crafty projects!
