To Do Tuesday #109

Welcome back! Today will be toasty as we once again hit over 90F. The rest of the week is warming up. I am sure September will have a few more of those for us before it is all over and Fall settles in. It is amazing how different my perspective about the temp is in September versus July. 😝

Plan to link up with Carol over at Quilt Schmilt for To Do Tuesday. Come over and check it out!

Under the Needle Last Week

Still am not sewing nearly as much as I did after the Quilt Retreat. I have probably settled into my usual routine where I try to hit the sewing room at least 3 or 4 times a week for at least 15 minutes. Usually 15 mintues morphs into an hour or two. It is the starting that normally takes me awhile. 😂

Last week I did a lot of prep work and I did work with some of those prepped blocks but also went off on a tangent.

All Sewn Up
  1. Finished the first 3 blocks for my Alison Glass Stamp Quilt SAL. I needed to practice before adding mitered borders to my quilt
  2. Added Borders 1 & 2 as a set. (Strip set). I thought mitering them all together would be much easier…and it was definitely easier
  3. Finally pieced the backing for my 2019 100 days Alison Glass Christmas quilt. Now I have moved the front and back over to the long arm pile.
  4. Finished my churn dash block that ended up being my leaders and enders project this week.
  5. I was also feeling pretty good because I finished Row 4 and started Row 5 for the 2023 100 days 100 blocks Alison Glass 2023 Sunprint quilt.
English Paper Piecing Progress

I got started on Queen of Diamonds Block 3-1 this week. This will be a half diamond block that will be trimmed at the final stages. I was excited to get as much done as I have.

All Cut Up & Ready to Go
  1. I put together the last Daydreamer blocks to be sewn. There is 12 left (not shown).
  2. I was hoping to put sew up the next 2 rows of my August Temperature Cottage. I only was able to pull the rows and lay them out on the design boards that I made.
  3. I am running out of half-square triangles (HST) for two of the colors so I had to cut some more magic 8 squares both in color and white.

September Goals

Yesterday I finally got around to pulling together my Active WIP list and deciding on my target September Goals. It was hard. I had to take into consideration my UFO pull for September and my desire to get started long arming again.

September UFOs
Meadowland blocks

Nine was the magic number for September. First up is my Quilt UFO: Meadowlands which is just a stack of blocks right now. During my research this week, this is a Instagram 2020 challenge that I participated in. My primary fabric was Tula Pink Monkey Wrench with added fat quarters and using a solid purple for background. This should be fun to work on. As I mentioned in August, working on these older projects is like Christmas presents.

Finished Block 22 Lost and Found quilt

My small or ongoing project that came up was my Lost and Found EPP project that I finished in 2023. At least I finished the blocks. It is now time to cut and start adding sashing. I am setting a goal of working on this at least 5 times this month so I can get back into it and maybe finish in the next 6 months. Maybe I will explore the method of adding sashing via the Pink Door method from my current Queen of Diamonds SAL. It can’t hurt to explore it at least. It would be good practice before tackling the QoD finish. I probably should get a design wall up to make working on this easier. The cats never leave anyting alone that I lay out on the floor.

Afterthoughts

Lost & Found block

Pretty lofty goals (especially long arm goals), but here we go! I started working on this list last night when I was working on the cottage blocks and the 2023 100 days. Also was touching all the applique projects.

Have a great week and remember to have fun!
