FINISHES!

I had a few this week.

2018 Batik 100 Days 100 Blocks using Tula Pink’s 100 Modern Blocks City Sampler

Last Tuesday I shared my progress on my 2018 100 days 100 blocks project that I moved to top of my list to finish when it became my July UFO of the month. I finished the top!

Finished top ~ 2018 100 blocks Batik City Sampler 8/15/2024

I loved how this turned out. The original plan was to do the Gridlock layout but I ended up adding cornerstones from my batik stash in the same colorwash as the blocks. It is not a true rainbow quilt, but definitely a color wash. I just love how the off white paint splatter sashing and border fabric works with all my blocks.

The blocks were made from my stash of batiks.

I have been working on this series for a couple of years. This specific project was started last fall and I worked on it very sporadically. I finished everything but the quilting and binding in the spring. This week I decided I needed to just finish it. Love how it turned out. The plaid for the binding is perfect.

This was a kit I purchased from Shabby Fabrics. All the applique pieces were precut, but the background had to be pieced. The kit included even binding and backing. Can’t wait to display this in December

I started this series the same time as the Blooming series and pretty much have been working it the same way. Whenever the mood strikes. LOL! This series has two pieces. The left is a series of pieced blocks (in this case present and tree blocks) and the right is applique.

This week I finished machine applique. I was on a roll from finishing my other two projects that I powered through the quilting, embellishments, and binding for this cute wall hanging as well.

Feels fabulous to finish.

Once again it was a pre-cut applique kit from Shabby fabrics which included fabrics for the blocks, background, backing, and binding as well as the cute buttons for the berries on the holly leaves.

Under the Needle Last Week

I had another Quilt Zoom day with a different group of quilty friends plus tried to spend a least 15 minutes in the sewing room each day. Here is what I got done:

  • Finished the last four of my FPP snail trail blocks for the 2024 AG Venti Sunprint Quilt. Nala was very helpful on Friday when I was trying to work on them.
  • Spent an hour organizing next 12 blocks (Log Cabin) for the FPP quilt. I decided to save working on them until next month’s Zoom call. (Not pictured)
  • August 7-12 is on my August cottage
  • Finished the next 4 Daydreamer blocks
  • Decided to pull out and organize the next EIGHT daydreamer blocks. I am down to 12 so feeling excited.
  • One evening while working on the binding for the wall hangings, I finished the other two corner units for my Farmers Wife 1920 Block 47 – Homemaker
  • While my goal is to finish only one Churn Dash block this month, I pulled out two and am using them as my next leaders and enders project since Daydreamer is almost done.
  • Also spent an afternoon or two auditioning fabrics for the Tula Pink Tiny Beast quilt (AUGUST UFO). I think I have changed my mind a dozen times. I am going to do one more fabric pull/audition before finalizing the borders but I have made some fantasic progress. (Not pictured).
  • Pulled out Bunny Knoll applique project to pick matching thread/bobbins for the applique. Had to also order some tearaway stablizer which is scheduled to be delivered today. (Not pictured)
  • Cut all center blocks for Row 1 of Alison Glass Stamp Quilt (not pictured) and borders

Check out the margin for all of my August quilting goals and what I have accomplished so far this month.

Afterthoughts

That was last weekend for me! Obviously this week was a endorphin high with three finishes for the first time in a long time. Does that mean this new way of looking at my WIPs is working? Or maybe looking at a long list of 102 WIP projects made me think OMG 😱? I’m not sure. I just hope to keep it going during August. When you are in the zone, you have to take advantage of the momentum.

Thanks for stopping by. See you next week.
