Quilt Diary: Updates from Long Beach

Just an update on the projects on my projects while we are in Long Beach this weekend for hockey.

Sewing on the Go

Ruby’s Garden Quilt (English Paper Piecing)

I have only worked a little on this project since last week.  I started the next diamond which is still cream and turquoise but with some rose colored accented fabrics. I’ve begun looking for more tiny flower fabrics to use with this project.  This will be a learn as I go kind of project for sure!  I am enjoying and look forward to this process.

Farmer’s Wife 1920s Quilt (English Paper Piecing)

I have been able to finish up another block and am almost done with a second block.  I am loving this orange and yellow sections.  These warm colors always make me feel so happy!

Wooly Mug Rugs (Wool Applique by Hand)

I’ve actually put quite a few of my free time into this particular project.  I decided on working the Thanksgiving Turkeys first.  I am almost done with all the whip stitching (sewing down all the pieces with matching thread).  If I finish today, then I will start the embroidery embellishment.  They will look really cute.

I brought the Halloween ones and if I finish the Turkeys, then I will start on these this weekend.

On the Sewing Table

Tablecloths

I finished cutting everything for both table cloths.  I sewed all the four patches and am now sewing the yellow/brown borders to the leaf four patch for both the dining room and patio tables.  They are coming along pretty good.  If only I was home a wee bit more, they would be done by now.

I asked Caitlin about the patio table cloth and it seems that I will need to add some kind of border to make up for the extra two inches.  Maybe a brown or black.  We shall see.

Halloween Placemats

I got them all trimmed up but didn’t find time to bind them.  Binding the four placemats is my #onethingwithAmy this week.  Maybe Sunday when we get home I will have time.  I am looking forward to wrapping up my first project for this quarter.  This one is over a year old so it makes it even sweeter!

Halifax Temperature Quilt

Between tablecloths I got  a few more blocks completed for this project.  I just keep stepping forward on this project – slow and sure.

Hockey Update

Just a quick update.  We have played 2 out of 4 games.  We tied one and won one.  The boys are feeling good.img_3157

Safe Travels and Happy Quilting,

Peggy
