Hello My Stitchy Friends from Vancouver, Washington. I stopped for the night on my way to Seattle, Washington Tuesday night. I stayed along the Columbia River. It was a beautiful night along the waterfront.
Since I was traveling, I did not do To Do Tuesday. Actually I stayed the night in Seattle on Wednesday night. We loaded my truck, a 5×8 trailer, and Caitlin’s trailer with plants, camping gear, artwork, and cat stuff. Then headed back to Vancouver on the Fourth of July where we unloaded everything. Caitlin headed back to Seattle to finish packing and getting ready for the movers on Saturday morning. This is the first time I have not be driving or packing since Monday.
I was so tired at night that I just fell into bed. Not stitching for me for most of this week. Yet I still have some things to share with you.
Starts & Finishes
With all this craziness, I only had one new start this week and no finishes.
START: Pop of Summer by Bent Creek
The “Pop of” series are all kits which include fabric and pearl cotton. As I have not worked with pearl cotton as my floss before, I decided to spend July 1st figuring out the needle I needed for this. I ended up using my largest needle on hand which I think is a 24. I have no idea the color but this is a 20 ct linen that I am stitching on.
This is a July WIPGO project and I have brought it on the trip. Unfortunately I have only got to work on it one other night for about 15 minutes.
June WIPGO Final Update
I meet my goal of working on my June WIPGO projects five times during the month of June.
Project #2: Snowballs for Sale by Lori Holt (Bee in my Bonnet)
Looking at the before and after pictures, It doesn’t feel like I got much done. Yet, the bottom of the snowman is big so in actuality, I did. Overall I am pleased with the progress.
Project 25: Green House (Fabulous House) by Cottage Garden Samplings
This I felt like I made great progress on. I have finished almost half of the project. I just have a few “snowflakes” to fill in on the left. Loving it!
WIP Update
Now let’s take a look at everything else.
December Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs
I finally finished my first “snapshot” for December. The fireplace mantle is cute. I just keep doing a little each month on this one just to make forward progress.
January Month 2 Month by Stitching with the Housewives
Another project, I make sure to spend at least an hour on each month. I am not trying to focus on it although……. This one is actually getting close to being finished. While I would like to say, it will be finished, I can’t. I have two long trips during July and both are very busy doing other stuff. There won’t be a lot of downtime to stitch.
June Year of Celebration Season 2 by Hands on Design
This is the first time in a long time that I haven’t finished the little project in the same month I started it. Honestly, I am a little disappointed. I did bring it with me on this trip because today and tomorrow I should have some stitching time. This is turning out so cute. This whole series is just …. Cute.
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
I am not sure how long I will be here in Vancouver. I could leave as early as Monday or as late as Thursday. It all depends on what I will need to do once the rest of the crew gets here and we figure out what is needed. Last move, I ended up being around for a whole week. We shall see. Because of the uncertainty, I did bring several cross stitch projects with me as well as some hand quilting – my Farmers Wife English Paper Piecing project. I might even have my Ruby’s Garden in that bag.
I hope to do the following:
- Finish June Year of Celebration
- Finish June Temperature Shelf
- Work on WIPGO project Pop of Summer
- Work on WIPGO proejct Let’s Talk Summer pillow
With everything with me, if I have free time, I have somehting to do. They are having a heat wave here (supposed to be 100 today) so that hike I had planned may have to wait until next trip.
I know Linda (from Texas), 100 is not really a heat wave especially for y’all. Lucky for me the new house has AC. I am cat sitting until they get back. Her older cat Ozzie will appreciate the AC as well. He is a Maine Coon with lots of fur!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Peggy Stockwell in Vancouver, Washington
I’m so glad you had a nice trip and I bet you’ll be glad to get home, whenever that is. Those kitties are just adorable!
I like your June Year of Celebration piece. I think you did a lot on your snowballs!
Oh yes Peggy, 100 is definitely a heat wave here too – even the 90s are too hot for me – lol! Thank God for AC. It was actually 69 when we got up this morning – we had a “cold” front and even though we are in north Texas, we are hoping Beryl will send some moisture up our way next week. So it is at least a little relief from the 100s we’ve been experiencing.
Stay cool and have a safe trip home!
