Floss Friday #96

I have been a little late all week. Off my game for sure. But it has been a super productive week in my crafting world. 😝 I think I am finally recovered from the Reno trip just in time for my trip to Washington State. Let’s take a look at what cross stitch I worked on this past week.

Starts & Finishes

I had one start and three finishes this week. It felt so good to check off so many of my finish projects off the list. Let’s check them out!

FINISH: May Monthly Markings by Heart in Hand
Finish of May Monthly Markings as of 6/15/2024

The ladybug was still my favorite part to stitch for May. I love how this is coming along! I am stitching on 16 ct dirty aida with called for Weeks Dye Works, Classic Colorworks, and DMC.

FINISH: Let’s Talk Summer (lg framed chart) by Hands on Design

It was so exciting to finish up this gorgeous chart. I love everything about it. I just wish the large chart had a watermelon or two. We are a watermelon family. Later this month I will be starting my final chart for this series. It is the medium chart which will be a pillow when we are all done. I peeked into my bag and realized I need to make the watermelons for the small hoop project still.

This was stitched on 16 ct black aida with called for DMC floss. Love Love Love the colors.

FINISH: July Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives

Woohoo! The last in my first series stitch is finally done. Now it is time to figure out the final finish so that I can enjoy all my hard work. I started this series in 2021. It was my first time stitching on such a dark fabric. I quickly got the hang of it and now I enjoy stitching on dark cloth. This series was meant to be two seperate charts, but I combined the month chart with the truck chart. I like how it turned out. 😍

START: June Year of Celebration Season 2 by Hands on Design
June Monthly Markings Start 6/20/2024

June is going to be cute. It is a bird sitting in baskets of strawberries. Here I got started on 16 ct dirty aida using Weeks Dye Works and Classic Colorworks. I wanted to finish the bird. He just needs legs.

WIP Updates

After all those finishes, I have focused in on The Clown as my hour each night project. Check out my progress below. Things are going very smooth this week.

WIPGO Project: Snowballs for Sale by Lori Holt (Bee in my Bonnet)

After getting back from Reno, I worked a little more on my snowman. I am currently filling in all the work that I had done earlier this year. So much white! I easily get distracted.

2024 SJ Temperature Library by Kristi’s Corner

This month’s books have had a wide range, not as wide as May but still pretty colorful. Here is what everything looks like through June 12th. I can’t wait to do the next 6 books.

Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embroidery

Once again got some time in on this HUGE project. I am currently on page 5 of 9. The house motif had lots of choices, but I choose this house as it was the closest to my own. I thought about doing something fun like windmill or chinese temple, but went with something to represent my family.

I am stitching on 16 ct white aida (with a few stains 🥹). I am using Weeks Dye Works floss. I am enjoying stitching my first Jumbo stitch.

Autumn Basket #3 by Hands on Design
Autumn Basket #3 WIP 6/20/2024

Each month when I look at my goals, I pick something to focus on since I have so many project. Instead of just have a few projects, I opt to have a lot and make sure that I work on everything at least once during the month. This is one of those. I have finished the center of this motif and and now starting on the bear claws (quilt design) which will go around the center. I really like the colors that Cathy picks. I am stitching on 16 ct dubloon aida with called for DMC.

Snowman Collector: The Clown by Cottage Garden Samplings

I finished his pants which makes the snowman clown complete! Now I have to finish the bordere, snowflakes, strongman, and bear. Getting so close to being done. I am looking forward to starting The Shepherd (the next in the series).

This is a huge project that is why I had to select 18ct vintage country mocha to stitch on. Any larger count would have made it very hard to deal with. I have a long way to go. The Clown is chart 2 of 12. Maybe I should have done them individually but I like how it looks together.

Upcoming Plans & Thoughts

Snowman Collector WIP 6/20/2024

Whew! It is hard to believe there is only 10 days left in June. I have slowly been decreasing my active projects as I have gotten pickier on what I am willing to work on. I still have a number that I have to finish up from before I was picky. Nowadays, most of the projects I work on, I want to work on but there is still a few out there that I wish I had chose different fabric or don’t really like the chart. I am soldering on.

I love snowmen, pumpkins, and hummingbirds. Yellow is my favorite color but teal and purple run close seconds and thirds. Yellow in cross stitch doesn’t normally look too good unless you are on a dark background. I have developed a fondness for Vintage Country Mocha. I like the mottled look. My interest is piqued with dying my own fabric. Most hand dyed fabrics have that same mottled look. Just wish I had a stainless steel sink.

This week I currently have planned on the following:

  1. Finishing The Clown
  2. Finishing June Year of Celebration
  3. Updating my Temperature Library for June 13th to 18th
  4. Finish my 5th time on Fabulous House: Green House for my WIPGO goal
  5. Finish my 4th & 5th time on Snowballs for Sale for my WIPGO goal
  6. Work on August Calendar Crates
  7. Work on Blooming Tiny Town
  8. Start Mr September Calendar Gnome
  9. Start Let’s Talk Summer Pillow (medium chart)

That will keep me busy right? Happy Stitching this week. Enjoy your summer weekend.

  1. Love your pretty projects, as always! Is your visit to Washington state coming up soon?
Do you have a stainless steel bowl? If we lived close I’d give you one of my big ones so you could dye your fabric. 🙂
