Hi Everyone! It has been a crazy week like usual. I keep waiting for a boring week and it just never comes. Is that a good thing or a bad thing? Who knows. It is just life. I really wouldn’t change a thing!
As you all know, I was in Seattle last weekend. I got to see my brother Scott. We were trying to pinpoint the last time we SAW each other and we think it was the summer of 2022. Meanwhile, we do talk often as well as having several group chats with different members of the family. I just love how connected we stay. Oh and he is great at enabling me with my interests. He was fascinated with my current class – Immersion 2024 which is a surface pattern design class using Adobe Illustrator.
Let’s take a look at all my stitchy projects from this week.
Starts & Finishes
Hmmm. I had two days of no stitching this week. Both days were travel days. Yet, I managed to start two new projects
START: (WIPGO Project) March Year of Celebration Season 2 by Hands on Design
This is one of my WIPGO projects for this month. I had intended to work on it while I was in Seattle. I happened to forget to bring my little bag of supplies that include needles, hoops, scissors, etc. So I had to wait until I got home to start this one. I felt pretty good on how far I got on this start.
I still haven’t checked to see what cloth this is. (Sigh). But it is 16 count with called for Classic Colorworks floss.
START: Autumn Basket #3 by Hands on Design
I hadn’t intended to start this one this week, but last night the urge was so intense that I just couldn’t resist starting this anymore. I am looking forward to working on this quilt block. It reminds me of a bear claw.
It is being stitched on…. (OMG, I am forgetting everything) with called for DMC. LOL!
WIP Updates
With two no stitch dates and forgetting to bring supplies, I didn’t work on as many projects as I hoped. Let’s take a look anyway
July Trucking Along by Stitching with the Housewives
I thought I brought a different project to Seattle, but it turned out this is the one I threw in the suitcase. Good thing too! This Witchel fabric is nice an stiff and I had every thread on a needle already. Without a hoop the first night I worked on it, it was slow going. I also forgot to bring my light. Luckily the hotel room was actually well lit.
When I went to Caitlin’s for dinner, I borrowed back a hoop from her to be used for the rest of the trip. I used a pair of scissors from my makeup bag. I did realize, that I should make a duplicate go bag to keep in my suitcase so this doesn’t happen again including a portable light source. I do that for everything else for travel, so why not this?
I just love stitching with the red in this kit. It is Classic Colorworks Licorice Red. It is a deep but vibrant red. Just gorgeous. It feels so good to be filling in the truck.
January Month 2 Month by Stitching with the Housewives
Last night, I decided I really wanted to finish the barn for this stitch. It wasn’t in the plans for this week, but it is what I wanted to do so I went with it. I really like the barn. I discovered (again) that I made a mistake when I originally stitched the outline of this barn. I don’t think I would know if I hadn’t been looking at the pattern because I did a great job blending in the mistake. Love it!
I am stitching on 16 ct white aida with called for Classic Colorworks floss (which I ended up losing my extra skein. It will turn up somewhere but I don’t understand how I do that.)
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
This past week has certainly been a little helter skelter. I am feeling more in the groove today and it is good to know I will be home this next week. Even though I lost two stitch days, I still have plenty of time to work on all my projects for April. I am looking at my planning calendar for Cross Stitch and I have a lot of empty days. I don’t know if that means I forgot to schedule in some projects or if I am finally catching up on my backlog. This week will allow me to take a breath and check that out.
My stitching plans at the moment is to:
- Work on my WIPGO project Year of Celebration 2: finishing March, starting April? Finish working on 5 x or both March & April.
- Work on Fruit of Plenty
- Start March Monthly Markings
- Work on May Stackables
- Work on Blooming Tiny Town
- Work on Snowman Collector: The Clown
- Work on Sail Away
As usual, Nala is being a real “helper”. She also tipped over my vase again spilling water all over the computer. I guess having pretty flowers on my desk is totally out of the question. I am just thankful how computers are more water resistant than they use to be (and the vase was very tiny which is probably why she could even tip it over.)
Everyone have a great weekend. Happy Stitching!
Peggy in San Jose, California
So glad you had some catch up time with your brother. How cool that he is interested in your projects! I’m sure Nala missed you and probably needed to punish you by tipping over the vase. Maybe it’s a ginger cat thing, but my ginger Jack is the one always pawing things over or picking up my eye drops and carrying them away – lol! Hope you have a wonderful, relaxing weekend Peggy!
