I had myself a mini marathon this past holiday weekend to work on all the projects I had not worked on. I only meant to work on those for the whole weekend, but couldn’t resist working on my fall projects. I had already put away Fall Harvest (see last week’s blog here to look at) and Autumn Beauties which somehow I haven’t worked on since October.
The good news is that they are the only two WIPs for fall being put on hold and next year I get to start new ones!
Starts & Finishes
I only have one start which I happened to finish in the same day this month.
November Hello There by Hands on Design
A very simple but striking design. This was stitched on 16 ct white aida with called for DMC floss.
WIPGO Updates
We are coming into the homestretch for 2023. But first let’s take a look at how November went.
November WIPGO Projects
I made my goal of working on both projects at least five times this month. I actually got in an extra day on Let’s Talk Summer as well as two for Temperature Butterflies.
Project #3: 2023 Temperature Butterflies by Stitchin Mommy
I was very pleased with the progress that I made. I finished the outline for all four remaining butterflies as well as finishing the September butterfly and starting the October butterfly. It should be easy now to complete October and November butterflies in December leaving on December in the new year! Sweet right. I love how this project turned out and am definitely inspired to do one for 2024 but as books!
Project #8: Let’s Talk Summer by Hands on Design
Another one with great progress. It should make picking this up this summer easy and fun. I love that it will be a slam dunk to finish all these Let’s Talk Summer projects and finally make into FFOs.
December WIPGO Projects
While it has not officially posted on the website so I have no real cute graphics to show you. I do have last months which shows the remaining numbers left for 2023. Viola!
Project #12: Snowballs for Sale by Lori Holt
As you can see, this project has not got very far even though I have been working on it for 2 winters. So.. I have decided that this is the one that I am taking with me on my Christmas vacation to Seattle and Whistler. While the kiddos are out skiing, I will be able to cozy up with the cats and make some progress. Looking forward to it.
I have five nights as my WIPGO goal this month.
Project #20: June Snapshot by Pine Mountain Design
I worked on this this past weekend and was able to get quite a bit done in the “June” picture. I finished the border, June, and the knife. I am looking forward to December where this become the focus. I am almost halfway, so it seems very realistic to finish this in December. If not, I will definitely work on it five times this month.
WIP Updates
So what is left that I worked on this week that I want to show you.
June Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives
Over the weekend, I whittle away at this project for a couple of hourse. I finished all the strawberries on the right and started on the last row of the sign. Not bad.
July Truckin Along by Stitching with the Housewives
It doesn’t look like much but I am determined to work on this a couple of hours each month. It is the last one in the series I need to finish. Any progress is great. I actually like stitching the daises. They are cute.
October Stackables by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)
For a hot second, I thought I might be able to finish this one during November. When I realized I had too much left, I set aside but not before I started the scarecrow. I will be finishing this up (hopefully) in December. I haven’t received the December stackable yet, but maybe by the time I finish this one, it will have arrived.
Autumn Baskets (chart #1) by Hands on Design
I can’t help being naturally optimistic. Another one that I felt so sure I was going to finish in November. LOL! While it is close, I still have a bunch of 16-patch squares to stitch on the inside of the stars. Love the look!
November Sampler of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks
I am pleased to have finished the center of the sampler. I am looking forward to stitching the three different borders that go with this sampler. Next up will be corn and pumpkins.
A Calendar Gnome – Mr August by Charlie’s Needle
Another series that I keep getting a few hours each month. The last gnome took me a year. This one was started in August, so I don’t think it will take that long this time. The flower cart is almost done as well as the gnome himself.
Fruit of Plenty by Modern Folk Embrodiery
I met my goal of working on this three times this month. Sometimes it was only one hour, but it was time well spent. I’m amazed at the progress and maybe getting a little excited now that I hit the halfway mark!
Snowman Collector: The Clown by Cottage Gardens Samplings
Because I have an all day quilting day Friday, Floss Friday is being written up on Thursday. So…. I have one more night to work on this to fulfill my three times for November. I am hopeful to finish all three big tops, the top border, and the trapezee tonight.
I also will need to start replacing the existing snowflake outline with an all white floss. Now that I have seen the whole design, white is more appropriate. You can view overall project here
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
Wow! That was a lot of projects. I normally would be adding some more pictures but there are so much eye candy already, that I will just leave as is. When I start recapping what I have done, it sometimes amazes me how much gets done.
Cottage Garden Samplings came out with another series called Fabulous Houses. I am not really a house person because they take so so long to stitch. While I was over on the website downloading the latest info on Snowman Collector, I looked. 🙄. (Sigh). She has some cool things coming up including a lighthouse and hobbit house. The Santa house is too cute! Okay, I am adding it to my list of going to stitch. I guess if I finish up a few of these other series, it will be okay, right?! Although I have already decided that I will be stitching them as individual projects not one big project.
Along those lines, I have decided on my little projects for next year because I have enjoyed doing Year of Celebration and Hello There this year. I am going to do Season 2 – Year of Celebration by Hands on Design and Monthly Markings by Heart in Hand.
I really want to do Monthly Markings as little projects, but I love her border she put together for all twelve so will end up doing them as one big project.
Yes, I have started planning 2024. I think I love planning as much as doing.
You have a great Friday. Happy Stitching and Quilting. I love to read your comments. Linda, Texas Quiltgal, is one of the most encouraging people ever! I love reading her comments.
I haven’t caught Simba and Nala on camera doing anything cute this week. By the time I run over to grab my phone, they are just sitting there with a look 👀 of “it wasn’t me”.
Thanks again for stopping by.
Peggy Stockwell
Way to go! You amaze me every time I see how the side-by-side progress pictures! Love the Snowman progress and the Sampler.
Thank you. Looking forward to working on snowmen
Oh my goodness you just made me tear up! I love reading your blog Peggy – you are one of the most inspiring and kind folks I’ve ever “met”, and your beautiful projects just motivate me!
I love the Snowballs cross stitch – so, so cute. And Autumn Baskets is now in my cart at FQS, thanks to you. 😉
Your Christmas vacay to Seattle and Whistler sounds wonderful. Whose cats will you be cozying up to?
My daughter has decided to take her two cats on tge road trip from Seattle to Whistler. So I will be hanging with Ozzie and Hobbes.
