Whew! It’s been two weeks since I last checked in with everyone. A week of that was me off spending money in Reno on more quilting projects and supplies that I had not planned on buying! I went with my enabling buddies Mary Elizabeth, Toni, and Teri. We had a great time, shopped, ate, drank, and talked so much about everything under the sun. I am sure we solved all the world’s problems. LOL!
Obviously, I did take a project along and only actually worked on it the first night we were in Reno. I simply was too tired the other nights after being on my feet for hours. After getting home, I just sat in my chair and stared into space for a day or two. So not only did I not stitch much while on the road, I didn’t stitch much when I got back either. Despite all that I still managed to get stuff done. I have no idea how.
Starts & Finishes
Just a little bit in this category to check out this time.
START: Let’s Talk Summer (framed chart) by Hands on Design
For those of you who might not know. I am working on a seasonal series. Each season has three charts. The summer series I have only finished the smallest chart. This month I started on the largest chart which will end up being 8×10 framed piece. It is being stitched on 16 count black aida with the called for DMC flosses which are fairly bright just like I love. I look forward to working on this project over the next few months.
FINISH: Just My Type by FQS It’s Sew Emma
This chart came out a few years back but I didn’t start it until last year as part of my Valentine pieces. Everything for this project came from my stash. I used 14ct fabric flair sage effect and pulled some gorgeous Weeks Dye Works floss I had on hand. I just love how it finished up. I haven’t decided on a finish but I am leaning towards a pillow.
WIP Updates
Despite the mind wandering, I have some good progress. Check it out!
Prim Stitch by Bee in My Bonnet (Lori Holt)
Some nights I have only had an hour or so to work on projects. This was one of the nights. I was pleased with my progress finishing up the cat and bird. Just need to work on the star block and finish the border before moving on to chart number 11 out of 12. This is being stitched as one large piece on 25ct prim lugana. So pretty with aurfil floss.
Big Hearted Tiny Town by Heart in Hand
I love stitching these tiny towns. This one is coming along nicely. I almost finished the love house. It just needs a roof and it will be done. That will leave just a few house and a tree with a fence. I am feeling real hopefully that I can wrap this up in June. I am very pleased that I stitched this on the purple fabric. The pinks and red look fabulous.
Snowman Collector – The Needleworker by Cottage Garden Samplings
This was my Reno project. I thought we would be lounging around the hotel more. LOL! I only got to work on this one night while on our trip and have not had any opportunity to pick it back up. Still in love with this pattern. I received the floss that I was running low on so I should be all set for the rest of the time on The Needleworker. The more I work with Vintage Country Mocha the more I love the mottled look the fabric has.
Tea Thyme by FQS It’s Sew Emma
This is a project that I only work on here or there. The tea cup was pretty dense and it is feeling good to be finally wrapping it up. The cup just have some details left that enhance the dimensial feel of the cup. Looking at the chart, I think once I finish the cup, it will move only faster.
2023 San Jose Temperature Butterflies by Stitchin Momma
I have been pleased that I have managed to stay on top of this stitch so far. I haven’t had much time to work on it this month – just one night so far. I was happy that I was able to almost finish the outline of the butterfly. The fabric is country vintage whisper blue. Isn’t it pretty.
Sail Away by FQS It’s Sew Emma
While I like this project, it is not my usual type. I pulled the fabric and floss from my stash for this chart which was released a couple of years and that I started last year. I have been working on the border and I have almost finished it. Then I will need to decide on what object to work on next. I am kind of leaning towards working on the lighthouse.
April Stackables by FQS It’s Sew Emma
I decided early in the month that I really want to finish this during June. So I have been knocking out each object. Last night I finished the bunny. I just have the bucket left! How sweet it feels to make such great progress. The bunny was quite fun to stitch. with something like this I find it easier to stitch the outline then go back and fill in the other colors (pink & blue). Then I don’t need to look at a pattern anymore as I fill in the bunny after that. This yellow is Classic Colorworks Queen Bee. I loved how it shaded the bunny.
WIPGO PROJECT: Snow Village by Country Cottage Needleworks
I have worked on this WIPGO project three times. I set a goal to work on it five times in June before putting away until November or December. I was super pleased to finish the Snow Village Banner in the middle. There were a lot of backstitching and french knots. These little embellishments really add to the look of the piece. Snow Boutique is the chart that I started. I have found working on the “snow” ground as an easy way to move to the next chart. What do you think about the door to my boutique just standing there? This series is pretty easy to line up. This one is being stitched on Fabric Flair 14 ct Blue with white Snow. I hope the last two stitch nights will have more time to work on this project. Just love how it is coming along!
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
I am feeling very patriotic right now. With my quilting I started a patriotic project bag. While on my Reno trip, I picked up some patriotic fabric. I pulled out of my finished charts an American flag and was digging around in my mini charm packs for another patriotic charm pack. Found one! Look to see what I am doing with all that:
I can’t wait to finish this up and display it during July!
No trips planned for this week but I do have an abnormal amount of appointments againt his week. Also have to make time to cook up my rhubarb that I got on the Reno trip from my friend Toni. I hope to cook it up this weekend.
I am thinking this week I should have time to:
- FFO American Flag pillow
- Finish May Temperature butterfly
- Finish April Stackables
- Finish Big Hearted Tiny Town
- Work on Fruit of Plenty
- Work on June Trucking Along
- Work on Mr July
- Work on October Cottage
- Work on June Calendar Crates
- Work on Snow Village
Hmmm. That seems a lot for just one week, but we will see how it goes. I may end up doing one marathon day this week to make sure I hit all my active wips during June.
I also need to sit down and plan what I want to work on during July. Some of those starts will be dependent on what I finish. If I do finish Big Hearted Tiny Town, then I will want to start another Tiny Town. Right now I am torn between the Bee Town or Seaside Town. Decisions. Decisions.
If I finish April Stackables, I will start a new Stackable as well. I really like the June one, but if July gets here this week, I might start it instead. Yes. Definitely, I need to do some planning.
I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It has been a little cool here which has been nice. Thanks for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon.
