Hello my stitchy friends! I am so enjoying the summer day we are having after a couple of days of rain. We have beautiful blue cloudless skies. It is just gorgeous here in the PNW. The weekend forecast is for the mid 90s in the next few days. Let’s take a look at my eye candy this week.
Starts & Finishes
I did get one this week!
Start & Finish: Small October Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives

My WIPGO goal for moon phases are interferring with my other WIP stitching time. What could have been one or two nights got stretched out to three for the small chart in October Calendar Crates. To make it worse, I got pretty far before realizing, I was on the large chart instead of the small. Opps! I finally got on track and finished up this cutie.
It was stitched on chalkboard black 14 ct aida with the called for Classic Colorworks. Love the colors! I can’t wait to start the large chart!
WIP Updates
The rest of my time was spent working on my existing WIPS. First up:
MAR WIPGO Project 9: 2025 SJ Moon Phases Temperature stitch by Climbing Goat Designs

I guess I didn’t take a photo of everything after I finished March, but here is my 2 1/2 moons per day starting on August 1st. I have officially finished the March WIPGO goal now! Yipee! I was hoping that the 2 1/2 moons would only be like 30-40 minutes instead it is taking an hour plus every night which is leaving less time for my other WIPS (or making them cross multiple days). Still It feels good to finish the first quarter of 2025. Now it is time to move on to the August WIPGO Goal.
August WIPGO Project 15: 2025 SJ Moon Phases Temperature by Climbing Goat Designs

As you might recall, the original project 15 was finished a few months ago. I elected to sub this WIP instead (since I am so far behind!) and the goal is to finish April & May this month. My daily goal is to stitch 2 and half moons each day which is taking me between 60 and 90 minutes. It’s only been a week, but I think it is working!
Aug WIPGO Project 12: Snowman Collector: The Shepherd by Cottage Garden Samplings

Hmmm. Too many photos so hard to see all the progress on the larger stitch so I moved it to be a cover photo for today instead. I had elected to stitch the series as one large project. Mostly I made that decision because each month is not the same size. I get a little impatient wanting to display it NOW. LOL! It will be a few years at this rate. I love this series and am so excited to be close to finishing the third (out of twelve) in the series. This week I finished the snowman and the barn in the background. Only have three more sheep and a few snowflakes. The goal is to finish (or at least work on 5 times) this month. It seems totally doable. Most of the colors are dmc but the few fancy flosses (like the brown and red) really add texture.
Patriotic Tiny Town by Heart in Hand

I am still really enjoying working on my patriotic stitches which I left in my line up for August. I secretly hope to finish them this month but it is totally a wish. I finished up one more building and all the stars & pinwheels in this red, white, and blue town. I am loving it!
Patriotic Quaker by Primrose Cottage Stitches

I wasn’t originally planning on doing this stitch in 2025, but last month I couldn’t stop myself starting this adorable quaker stitch. I love stitching quaker designs. This has been no exception. I am still working on 28 ct murano lugana which has been surprisingly easy to work with. I am still using the Colour & Cotton flosses that I used for the July 4th Round. I can’t wait to start the flag. I am hoping to get back to this one in August. I certainly didn’t get enough time on this.
JUN WIPGO Project 21: Field Guide to Dragons by Climbing Goat Designs

The original goal was a 1000 stitches back in June. I had to hunt high and low for the prepurchased fabric that I bought specifically for this chart. So glad I found it. I am really loving this yellow/orange with hints of rose fabric. As of last night I finished my original June goal. I still have to make up my July and August goals (400 each). So I still have 600 to do this month to get caught up.
I finished all the borders on page one and started the blue dragon which is very exciting. I will be focusing on finishing him up. He is on pages 1, 2, & 3. It is highly motivating to work on an actual dragon!
Reflections & Plans

This is lesson 2 from the Instagram series by @leopardandlacecoxoxo “🪡10 Hilarious Cross Stitch Lessons Every Stitcher Learns the Hard Way 🧵”
Man! I really have to agree with this lesson. I hate doing backstitching, but when it is called for, it is what makes the piece special. Anyone else feel the pain?
Next Week’s Plans
I should be modifying my expectations, but I am not. Here is the plan for this coming week:
- Continue 2 1/2 moons per day on the 2025 San Jose Temperature Moon Phases. The plan is to finish through April 15th to stay on track
- Summer Stitching Seasons
- WIPGO Project The Shepherd again this week – at least one sheep
- Shabby Winter Calendar Day 15
- Fruit of Plenty
- Start the large chart of October Calendar Crates
- Fieldguide to Dragons
Totally way more than I have time for. I am definitely an optomist! 😇
Honestly, I also need to kit up Mr. April as well as get my Stitch Quaker charts scanned if I really plan on starting both of these this month. The missing floss arrived in the mail (HAPPY MAIL!) this week along with the fabric for Mr April.
It is going to be gorgeous hot weekend so not sure how much time I will be spending indoors. Everyone have a great stitchy weekend. See you Tuesday for the quilty post.
