Floss Friday #142

Hello Everyone! I have a few pictures to share from the Honeymooners who were in Grand Teton most of the week but migrated to Yellowstone yesterday. I thought I would share a few pictures with you. They have reported (and I have seen the pics) that they have seen a Black Bear with 2 cubs, a marmot, several different moose sitings, and of course bison. Jannes has never been to either park while Caitlin has been, she was only 6 when we were there last. So… it is an adventure for both of them on their honeymoon. So glad they are having a great time although 30 minutes drive to her house and then back again everyday is getting old. Enjoy these few photos.

Now back to our regularly scheduled program!

With all the extra daily time away from home, there have been several days where I just haven’t felt like stitching this week. LOL! Imagine that. I am pleased with my overall progress and am happy to share what I worked on this week as well as May WIPGO progress.

May WIPGO Results

May 2025 WIPGO Projects 5 & 19

First let’s start with May WIPGO results. My WIPGO results for 2025 have not what I have become accustomed to. Can I say I am surprised with preparing for the move, buying a house, then moving? No. It is a process and 2025 will be … different. Let’s take a look.

Project 5: Crescent City Velaris by Woven Wild Crafts

I set a lofty goal of 2000 stitches for this May WIPGO goal. As you can see, I did stitch frequently. I did finish 1,669 stitches which fell short of this goal. My intention is to finish those 400 stitches and then do another 400 for June hopefully. We shall see how it goes. I am definitelly pleased with the progress I made in May! The May 14th photo is probably the truest of colors for this project. Such a fun adventure that I set out on to help my daughter Caitlin with her desire to stitch 3 of these full coverage stitches.

Project 19: Winter Camper by Bobbie G Designs

Sad to say but I did not even find this project until the beginning of June and I have yet to stitch on it. My original goal was to stitch 5x in May. Epic fail. To compensate for the move fail, I have decided this project will stay in my rotation until I do stitch on it 5x, then I will put it away until December. Let the games begin!

Starts & Finishes

Surprise! I have had several already this month. I am excited to share with you!

START & FINISH: February Square Dance by Heart in Hand

I have struggled with this series this year for unknown reasons, but I pulled it out this week and got sucked into it very quickly. As you can see, I almost finished it all in one sitting. Of course getting so far motivated me to finish it the next night. When I originally planned this series, I had planned on individual projects. This week, I changed my mind. I have decided to do it as one project. Currently I am thinking all 12 months, but am still considering a trio instead which I haven’t done before and could look adorable. Time will tell. I loved stitching all these gorgeous little hearts with beautiful fancy floss.

FINISH: November Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs

Whoohoo! With November’s finish, that completes the whole twelve months. This was started in 2021. I will never stitch on this 10 count vintage cloth. While easy to stitch on, I hate the feel of it. I would rather stitch on 20 count lugana if I want 10 count in the future. This whole project was fun but it was sure satisfying to put the last stitch into the turkey. 🦃

WIP Updates

Everything else I worked on….

2025 SJ Temp Moon Phases by Climbing Goat Designs

Finally started back working on my 2025 cross stitch temperature project. I was able to finish March 1st – March 5th. A nice little start.

Crescent City Velaris by Wild Woven Crafts
Crescent City Velaris WIP 6/10/2025

Spent some time working on my 800 stitches for the month. I have been flipping back and forth between working on the color with most stitches to one with least. I find it hard to find the ones with just a few stitches so this method is working for me. It helps to place the few stitches of a color when there are other colors in place. Starting to enjoy working on this and not view it as tedious. The 10×10 grid was okay to start the project but I can not see myself moving forward with that method. Love the blues!

February Month 2 Month by Stitching with the Housewives

I so didn’t want to stop last night when I realized I am so very close to a finish. This was not on my list of finishes. I only have around 350 stitches left to do and they are fun stitches. Down to just two colors 💙❤️. Next week…..

Reflections

Old Faithful @ Yellowstone

My brother Scott is flying in from NYC on Father’s Day (Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there) and I am excited to see him. I saw him last spring when I flew to see him during gaps of time while he was at a conference in Seattle. This will be the first quality time in a few years. I only get him a few days before he heads off to see the grandkids in Corvallis.

Meanwhile I am working on some kind of nature fieldtrip. The planned trip was to the Columbia Gorge but a fire 🔥 broke out on Wednesday and has burned 3500+ acres already so that is out. I put forth Mt St Helens and Fort Vancouver. We shall see what he thinks about it.

This week’s to do list:

  • Still looking for my dragon fabric. I got all excited because I thought I had unpacked ALL my cross stitch supplies but my 14 ct aida cloth container is missing in action and I think that is where my dragon fabric is. 🤞🏼
  • My Dragon floss arrived on the way to Starbucks to write this blog. So at least that part is done. I will still need to organize everything.
  • Finish February Month 2 Month
  • Work on Winter Camper one night this week
  • Start Prairie Schooler 2010
  • Work on The Shepherd one night this week
  • Finish my 400 stitches from last week (267 done) on Crescent City Velaris and hopefully add the June 400 stitches
  • Possible work on Christmas Calendar Day 4
  • Fruit of Plenty 400 stitches? maybe
  • Spring Stitching Seasons maybe
  • Mr. January maybe
  • Santa’s House maybe

Those maybes are there as I would like to do that, but if I am spending time with Scott, they are the ones I will skip for now. Besides, it is only halfway through the month and I have made a great start on working on all my active wips as well as finishing a few things unexpectedly.

Have a great weekend everyone.
