Hello Everyone from Vancouver, Washington. It was a foggy day as I drove in this afternoon but whenever there was a gap in the fog, we had sunny skies. I left sunny and bright San Jose with temps of 71F to be here with temps in the 40s. Now it feels like winter and the Christmas season.
Let’s take a look at what cross stitch projects I worked on this week as well as how November WIPGO wrapped up.
Starts & Finishes
I had two finishes and two starts this week. One of the finishes was a WIPGO project which I will share in the WIPGO section, but here is everything else.
START: Crescent City Velarius by Woven Wild Crafts
I finally have all 45 colors and and finished loading page 1 in this full coverage start. I know most people work on 10 inch grid at a time, but so far, that is not what I am doing. I love the fabric with is an 18 ct aida Cobalt. Thank goodness, this patterns calls for DMC only. While they have told me the number of skeins needed for each color, I have just started with 1 of each color.
This full coverage project will end up with almost 140,000 stitches and will be 18” x 24” when finished. I volunteered to start working on it while my daughter works on 1 of the other three in this series. When she finishes, I will pass this one to her and I will start the third in the series.
Such a new adventure!
START: Santa 2009 by Prairie Schooler
I have been wanting to stitch one of these for a few years now. I have slowly been collecting them as well as ordering the supplies. It was fun finally starting. I choose to start with the hockey santa of course. I never realized until I was pulling everything together that they all use the same DMC floss with a color added in here and there. So very cool!
I am stitching on 18ct aida putty khaki davos. It feels like evenweave and the floss works weird on the fabric. Because of that, I am generally stitching one cross at a time which I normally only do with fancy floss.
FINISH: November Year of Celebration Season 2 by Hands on Design
This project was suppose to have been finished in November. I missed a day when I was sick which makes me feel much better knowing I would have finished.
November is so cute. I am thinking all those orange triangles are pumpkin pie slices with whip cream on them. What do you think?
November WIPGO Results
WIPGO Nov Project #14: Calendar Gnome: Mr September by Charlie’s Needle
Hmmm. My finish photo has a shadow which is annoying but doesn’t subtract from being able to finish this WIPGO project in November. So excited to have been able to finish. So excited to be able to move on to Mr. January … in January.
This project was stitched on 28 ct legacy lugana with the called for floss – Classic Colorworks and DMC
WIPGO Nov Project #16: Winter Basket by Hands on Design
Winter Basket was a new start as I had wrapped up the Autumn Baskets in October. I was very stoked to have finished one c0mplete chart and about 30% on a second chart. As you can see, there is a total of 3.
I am stitching on 16 ct cloud aida with the called for colors. White can be seen but not well. Still I think it looks pretty good.
Other WIP Updates
I was able to work on a few other projects this week which is surprising since I spent a lot of time starting and finishing different projects.
2024 Temperature Library by Kristi’s Corner
First up, I was able to finish the November bookshelf. It is worth repeating…. I love this project!
I won’t get to start December until I get home from this trip to Washington. I have already penciled in some time to work on it.
Fabulous House: Santa’s House by Cottage Garden Samplings
I opted to be very Christmasee and work on Santa’s House. Doesn’t look like much but it is coming along nicely. I am loving the colors! The front door is almost done.
WIPGO Project: Christmas Calendar by Tiny Modernist
I was able to start on one of my December WIPGO projects last night. With driving most of the day, I only got a few hours to work on this before going to sleep. I am working on linen and the lighting sucked so progress was slow. I started Day 21 last night. See how they lighting was. Imagine trying to stitch with that.
Upcoming Plan & Thoughts
This next week I will be here in Washington see friends and relatives as well as visiting with my daughter. I only brought 3 projects:
- Christmas Calendar (WIPGO project)
- Monthly Markings (WIPGO project)
- Crescent City Velaris
The plan is to do my five days on each WIPGO project before switching to Crescent City Velaris. I think I will have time but when on trips I always think I will get more done then I ever do.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Peggy Stockwell in Vancouver, Washington
Sounds quite chilly in Vancouver. Will you get to shop or eat out? Crescent City looks very ambitious. You have such a neat sounding plan with your daughter. Mr September is so cute, love the hat. I continue to be tempted by the temperature library. I’m in love with the knickknacks! I hope you have a wonderful time in Washington Peggy!
