Floss Friday #112

Welcome to another week of cross stitch. I have to write this post on Thursday because tomorrow is a Quilting Zoom Day and then I will be off to Monterey for the weekend. Things are going great and I am super happy with all my progress. I have things to do so let’s get started.

Starts & Finishes

One finish and one start this week. Is that awesome or what?!

FINISH: Autumn Beauties by It’s Sew Emma (FQS)

I had planned to only work on this one night this past week. When I realized It was almost done, I couldn’t resist finishing it the next night. This was a mystery stitchalong from Fat Quarter Shop. I can’t remember if it was free or if I paid. The sign was a pick your own. I remember agonizing over it. Totally funny now. It turned out well.

This was stiched on 14 ct oatmeal aida with the called for Classic Colorworks floss.

START: October Year of Celebration Season 2 by Hands on Design
Start of October Year of Celebration #2

This week I was going to do Monthly Markings but I ended up grabbing this project bag instead. Here is the start of October Year of Celebration Season 2!

This whole series is stitched on 16 ct dirty aida with the called for hand dyed floss with a little DMC mixed in.

WIP Updates

We are one night short for the week plus using a night to finish Autumn Beauties. I don’t have as many WIP eyecandy as normal. You should still get an eye full.

2024 SJ Temperature Library by Kristi’s Corner

First up is the beginning of the October book shelf. Above is October 1st thru the 6th which ended up being easy as the first 7 days of October were over 95F. I felt the need to accent the books with an orange backstitch.

August Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives

I worked on this project last night. I had originally planned to work on August Stackables tonight but I will put that on hold as I am almost done with this one. Once again when I am this close, I just can’t resist finishing!

I was checking out where I am in the series and I have done more than I remember doing. I agonized over whether to start November next month but recently it has been easier just to finish them in order. September is still very fallish and should be fun.

I can’t wait to share the finish next week!

WIPGO Project: October Snapshot by Pine Mountain Design

The progress on this report is more than I thought. I was going to be happy if I finished the witch (and I did) but I also got a great start on the cauldron with the ghosties. This is going to be my weekend project. While my WIPGO Goal is five times this month, I would be super stoked to finish this one.

WIPGO Project: Fall is in the Air – A Fat Quarter Shop Stitch Quarterly

This one is going well also. My night was cut short because I had chores that had to happen when I was working on this one this week. I just love working on this tree. That fox is still just freaking adorable!

Upcoming Plans & Thoughts

I am headed to Monterey, California tomorrow after a day of quilting. Shaun is getting scuba certified and this weekend is the actual ocean dives on Saturday and Sunday. While driving there at 5am is not my most favorite thing, I do not want to drive home afterwards and be stuck in beach traffic for hours. So I was able to find a hotel. Nothing is very reasonable because it is holiday weekend but I would rather spend the weekend in a beach town then on the freeway travelling. With that in mind, this is what I am thinking:

  • Finish August Calendar Crates
  • Work on August Stackables
  • Take October Snapshot for my Monterey project
  • Mr September
  • Oct 7 – 12 Temperature Books
  • Work on Oct Yr of Celebration
  • Hill on Pumpkin Hill
  • Fruit of Plenty

I am so looking forward to getting my ocean fix. Happy Stitching everyone.

  1. Autumn Beauties really is a beauty, those colors, the design – just adorable. Your trip to Monterey sounds like fun, I bet the weather will be much more enjoyable. Kudos to Shaun for getting his scuba certification at a young age. We did it in our 40s!
