Floss Friday #11

I got a little distracted this week with the holiday so only worked a few minutes each night on one of my projects. I also started Lori Holt’s Granny Square Crochet Along. It has been years since I crocheted anything. I forgot how relaxing it can be.

So this should be a fairly quick!

FINISHES

Barn Sweet Barn – June by Lori Holt

It was nice to get caught up again finishing up this quick quilt block stitch. The corals and teals are so pretty together. This was stitched on 20 count white lugana 2 over 2 using DMC threads 967, 3814, 3341, 993, & 350.

I was able to finish release number 7 of 9. I have been able to almost stitch each release in one evening but somewhere through out the first evening, I got off and it turned out to be at the beginning. So a bit of frogging and a restart the next evening for a very nice finish on 16 count black aida using DMC 4030 & 156.

Let’s Talk Spring (medium chart) by Hands on Design

I think I mentioned that I had started the large chart on the medium prepped fabric so ended up undoing a few days work last month. After blogging that last week, I had the very strong urge to get in there and finish the NEST section of this lovely chart. It feels so good to be back on track. This is being stitched on 16 ct black aida (yes I love this fabric) with the called for DMC threads.

June Cottage of the Month by Country Cottage Needleworks

I continue to make progress on this series. I keep thinking I should focus on just finishing up this series. But then my ADD kicks in and just have to work on other things. I was flying along with this one. The house was great, but for some reason I struggled with the trees and strawberries. Two nights in a row I only managed to force myself to stitch on it for at least 15 minutes. My goal was to finish up the center. I finally accomplished that today! I still need to do some french knots and backstitching, but I rewarded myself for getting this far. What should have taken me only one or two nights ended up taking FIVE nights. The house was already done. Whew! Now all that has to happen is finishing the borders. But I am rewarding myself with a whole week off this one.

I think it is the linen that makes this easy stitch such a struggle. It is stitched on 28 ct lambswool linen. Overall it isn’t hard but sometimes it is hard to see where my 2 over 2 stitches should be. I am using called for Gentle Arts, Classic Colorworks, and DMC thread.

Upcoming

This week I have decided to start HOD Summer Basket and to squeeze in 15 minutes to work on the backstitching of Butterfly Dreams. I would like to work on Heartfelt, Prim Stitch, April Truckin Along, May Calendar Crates, and June Sample of the Month. That should keep me plenty busy. Some of the goals could take more than one night so I might not get as far as I hope but there will be forward progress.

I also finally got my new scanner figured out and was able to start scanning my backlog of patterns. It was so nice when I was working to do this as they came in. Now that I have my Brother ADS-1700W printer working, I am pleased that it scans both sides at the same time just like my work scanner use to.

I also got my fabrics prepped for my July & August starts. So far, I only have one August start. Not really seeing any others unless I have a super productive July!

Everyone enjoy this beautiful summer day!
