I’ve been busy with life this past month and haven’t made it into my sewing room as much as I would like. I tell myself to take a deep breath and let it go. Reminding myself that quilting in all of its forms is a stress reliever not a stressful hobby. Anyone else feeling me with setting your own goals to high. Well let’s get started on what has happened (or not) with my applique projects.
NEW STARTS AND NEW POSSIBILITIES
As we discussed last month, I had planned on starting Blooming Snowflakes and A Year in Words: Valentine. Unfortunately, I never did start either of them so I put them back in the project bucket and pulled out two new ones instead.
I ended up going with one March project (Blooming Daffodils) and one April project (A Year in Words: Spring). That means when I finish this April one I will have all four seasons done.
ALMOST FINISH…. EMBRODIERY REQUIRED
I was able to bind this project this week. Here I was thinking I was all done and then realized the bees need their “paths” embrodiered with a running stitch. So very close to being done…..
QUILTING NEEDED
I haven’t touched any of these since last time other than adding to the pile. Now I need to finish Blooming Sunflowers, Blooming Stars, Blooming Daisies, and A Year in Words: Summer. Looking forward to free motion quilting these four and getting them to the next stage. It will be such a big relief to finish them!
STITCHING REQUIRED
These are the last two in this series to be completed. It is exciting to finally be ready to machine applique them. Both are very intricate and will take a little time to do but gorgeous when they are done!
TO FUSE (OR NOT TO FUSE)
I have had the opportunity to do needle turn applique a number of times and it really isn’t my thing. Why? I don’t have the patience! So the above project Blooming Hearts still needs to be fused. Both February projects have a lot of similar colors so I like to applique at the same time. The hearts in this project is pretty easy and will be fun!
WRAP UP
My sewing room helper at it again! She can be persistent. I have already rescued the pins from her several times. It is a little nerve racking since I am afraid she can get hurt. Earlier in the afternoon she had wiggled under the quilt I have on the table being quilted.
With at least one of the series I have been working on coming to an end, it is time to start looking at what I want to do now. I have several wool applique series so I am thinking I may start one of them. I am keeping a eye out for series that I started before my house flooded and the unfinished projects that are still in boxes that I need to unpack. I also have a quilt project with applique that I am really thinking about. Plus a number of different McKenna Ryan projects to work on. Once I finish Adoornaments Series, we will see where I land.
Well that is a wrap on my applique for this month. Hope everyone is staying safe. Thank you for stopping by.
