This week has found me settling into more normal routine except for the daily trips to do kitty chores for the honeymooners who are currently in Grand Teton National Park. It has been a heatwave here but all of us are mustering through. In my truck it hit a high of 99F. Today is way cooler. Such a relief after the past several days.

My friend Carol Schmilt who is our host for To Do Tuesday in British Columbia has also been affected by the same heat wave. Planning to link up with Carol this week. Check out the blog and the linkup for inspiring ideas.

Weekly Progress

I did pretty good this week but as usual I really felt I could have completed more. I guess I am an eternal optomist which is better than the alternative.
- I finished the last two (of four) 12” Snail Trail blocks for Mo 7 of the Dragonfruit BOM. That checks that box off the list!
- I also finished two (of four) 12” Economy blocks for Mo 7 Dragonfruit BOM
- Finished EPP block: Farmers Wife 1920 Block 49: Honeycomb
- Started EPP block: Ruby’s Garden block 25 (i think). This block is using all liberty fabrics from my stash. I forgot how delicate the fabric is compared to normal quilting cotton. But it is lovely.
- Made all the units from Miss Rosie’s cake mix receipe 7 using my Peacock Colorstory layer cake. Just need to iron them, then assemble two more blocks
- Worked on my sewing studio for more than 30 minutes this week including creating foam boards to start loading my fabric yardage onto the shelves.
- Not only did I follow up on my Bernina 770QE, I got it back! Only had to pay for all the shipping from San Jose to Chicago to San Jose to Vancouver. It added up but everything else was under warranty.
Yesterday was a Quilt Zoom day with one of my groups. All six of us were present at once. Our zoom days are from 10-4 and people drop in and out as their schedule allows and we all work on different projects. Toni & Teri are both working on their 2025 temperature quilts. If you remember, I opted out for 2025. I felt the pattern they were doing was not fun for me. But their projects are very lovely. Jeanne was working Dog Park by McKenna Ryan. I told her if she had problems to reach out to my friend Mary Elizabeth. Jeanne was really struggling but we talked through how the pattern by McKenna works and she felt better. Chris was the other member and she was catching up on a BOM. All the blocks looked lovely. It always nice to hang out virtually while we work.
Overall a very successful week!
Weekly To Do List

No quilt zoom meetings this week so I have to motivate myself. LOL! The above quote describes my fabric stash (and probably my thread stash as well). With this in mind, I am thinking this is what I would like to do for this week:
- Dragonfruit Mo 7 Economy blocks x 2
- Dragonfruit Mo 7 Courthouse blocks x 4
- Finish sewing final Rail Fence strip set and subcutting into 4 – 10 inch blocks
- Assemble the side of Are You Game? Mystery quilt (it turns out I did a small and large and the one I am currently working on is the small)
- Finish making my Rosie’s Peacock blocks x2
- Still need to figure out a better name for this quilt. Any suggestions?
- Dedicate another 30 minutes to unpacking the sewing studio. It is getting more challenging now that things are starting to fill up.
- Get ironing station setup
- Get cutting station setup (this is a wildly unlikely scenario to happen, but I can hope)
- Finish the Patriotic table runner
- Sketch out sewing studio floor plan
- Attempt to finish the patriotic project bag (another highly unlikely but sure would be nice task)
Musings

I have been driving to my daughters house 25 minutes away everyday while they are on their honeymoon. This is Hobbes (orange) and Ozzie (maine coon). They are always happy to see me. I try to spend an hour with them each time I visit. It seems to be just the right amount of time. They typically wander off about that time before rushing back to the front door to tell me goodbye.
As I start filling up my new sewing studio, I am finding it harder and harder to stay organized. I do not have all the organizational tools/furniture I need but yet I still need to get things unpacked so I can evaluate what I need. I don’t want to randomly purchase stuff. I have looked at a dreambox especially for my cross stitch and/or creative memories crafts. But I refuse to buy anything yet. I still strongly feel the need to sketch out the studio; maybe even get professional help. Right now I think I would be answering questions with “ I don’t know “ until I finish unpacking everything. But I will need temporary solutions so I can get by.
Vivian B last week left some great suggestions which I am taking to heart. Definitely a practical soul who I can relate to.
This weekend my brother will be stopping by for a few days on the way to see his grandkids. I am excited to spend some time with him. It has been awhile since we spent one on one time. I am planning a field trip day. He mentioned the Columbia Gorge which I have been dying to see what all the hoopla is about. But then again, I think the Columbia River is a magnificent view so it will probably be glorious.
Have a great (and cool) week. Thanks for stopping by. All comments are always welcome.
