To Do Tuesday #143

Whew! What a chaotic two weeks! My daughter Caitlin is happily married and getting ready to two weeks of camping (and half marathons) with her new hubby at Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. The wedding day went off without a hitch. It was great to see my grandson Shaun after almost six weeks. Here are a few photos from the wedding day:

My sister Dorothy & her husband were unable to make it on Friday for the wedding but they did make it Saturday. The wedding went smooth and we had a nice little walk from the courthouse to the resturant where we had dinner with everyone. Saturday morning we had brunch with everyone again before the new couple took Shaun for a 6 mile hike to a gorgeous waterfall hike.

Friday I will share what we did the rest of the time…. So comeback if you want to know more!

The Past Two Weeks’ Progress

To Do Tuesday https://quiltschmilt.ca/

While I did not linkup last week due to family obligations, I will be linking up with Carol Schmilt’s To Do Tuesday linkup. Come join us or just check out all the eye candy. Thank you Carol for hosting the link up.

Not much happened while I had guests (May 21st through May 31st). I was re-engergized after taking a 10 day hiatus from all things quilty. Let me share.

  • I finished another strip set and got it cut into 4 more 10 inch blocks
  • Started the final strip set yesterday
  • Picked up where I left off last time working on the Cotton Cuts Mystery Quilt from 2020 – Are You Game? I finished assembling the center.
  • I finished TWO 12 inch Snail Trail FPP blocks from Month 7 of Dragonfruit BOM

  • Was looking for something else to work on and ended up pulling out this Rosie’s Layer Cake project made with a fabric line called Peacock Colorstory by Villa Romana (just looked it up on internet) that I started a long time ago. Per my WIP list, I started this back in 2018. Each layer cake is two 6 inch blocks.
  • I also finally brought my EPP projects downstairs out of the sewing room so I could work on them. I hope to make Sunday’s an EPP day. This week I continued working on my 1920’s Farmer Wife block 49. I finished assembling half the block as well as all 4 rectangles for the other half.

  • For my Gammill setup they contacted me wanting photos of the new studio and the current state of the long arm.
  • My brother in law Jesse helped me move things so that the long arm CAN be reassembled
  • Tenative Date is “July” but they will call when they have firm date (whatever that means)
  • I ended up emptying another 10 boxes even with company here.

Obviously most of this work was done before and after company, but recapping this all to you guys made me realize that I still got a lot done. Feeling good!

To Do List for This Week

While I still work on organizing my sewing studio, I have plans to work on more “stuff”. Next Monday will be a Quilt Zoom Day so I am feeling extremely ambitious. Here we go with the list!

Musings

The San Jose house is still on the market. While it has only been two weeks, I asked them to lower the price because I want to be DONE with it. Keep your fingers crossed.

I started looking at the dreambox furniture as a possiblity for organizing the new studio as well as many other things. As I am unpacking I realize I have a lot of different areas to organize: quilt/materials with foundation paper piecing, english paper piecing, traditional piecing, applique supplies, and long arm supplies; accuquilt dies and mats; bag making supplies & patterns; crochet books, tools & yarn; scrapbooking books, tools, paper, stickers, stamps, and tons of photos; silhouette machine, vinyl, paper, mats, etc; cross stitch patterns, kits, cloth, floss; finishing material for my craft projects; art supplies for drawing, painting, & calligraphy. Man oh man. So much stuff. There are a few miscellanous craft items, but for the most part I got rid of stuff I am not actively doing anymore such as general sewing stuff, beading, and macrame.

I am thinking it might be a good idea to measure and sketch out my second floor as well as existing furniture. I think it might be a good idea to make the furniture on separate pieces of paper so I can move around the room space. I also have a book on how to organize sewing space.

Currently I am focusing on getting everything unpacked and at least organized into categories to start. This is going to be a long process. What a nice problem to have! So excited to have this dedicated space.

Have a great week and good luck on all your projects!

  1. I love the idea of the sketch of upstairs with the cut outs of the furniture! That’s brilliant! I also love all that you accomplished even with us as a distraction! Love the picture of Nala sleeping on the sewing table! I have to say, I am really missing the cooler weather and the company.
