Floss Friday #173

Hello Stitchy Friends! It has been a very busy week and the next week looks to be just as busy. Let’s take a peek at what I have been working on this week.

Starts & Finishes

Just one new start for this week.

START: August Square Dance by Heart in Hand
Start of August Square Dance 3/9/026

I got a good start on the next in this series that I am working up as one yearlong banner. The theme is beehives. 🐝.

WIP Updates

The rest of the week I worked on my list of WIPs. I only got to stitch 6 out of 7 nights and some nights it was for only an hour. Progress is progress.

March WIPGO #3: House on Pumpkin Hill by Hello from Liz Matthews

The goal this month is to finish this project. I worked on finishing the sunflower and working on the border which I find to be so cool! Still love the cat standing on top of the house.

March WIPGO #4: Snowman Collector: The Postman by Cottage Garden Samplings

Once again the goal for this month is to wrap up the stitching on Mr. Postman. I worked on the bicycle this week. The wheel is turning out to be fun to work on.

2011 Prairie Schooler Santa
2011 Prairie Schooler Santa WIP 3/8/2026

So close to being done on this one. If I can get a full evening, this one will be wrapped up. I like the cardinal and am looking forward to stitching the foilage. Some of those Christmas stitches from December, I have been working on the smaller projects to finish up.

Fabulous House: The Castle by Cottage Garden Samplings
Fabulous House: The Castle WIP 3/10/2026

This week I worked on filling in the castle building. I even did a little on the outside border.

Crescent City Velaris by Woven Wild Crafts

This week I worked on filling any the left side of the page starting from the top. I would pick a color and fill in the stitch and then wherever else I could before moving on to the next color. It felt satisfying to finish up some 10×10 blocks.

Plans & Reflections

I am excited to share two more smalls that Caitlin (my daughter) finished. She is stitching all the National Parks that she and her husband have been to together. Teddy Roosevelt National Park was one that I was along for the ride. The three of us went when I moved her from Halifax, Nova Scotia to Seattle, Washington back in 2021. The Tetons I have been with Caitlin and we were supposed to go last summer (the three of us) to do a race. I ended up moving so Jannes and Caitlin went without me. That trip included Yellowstone. She is currently working on that small.

Plans for this Coming Week

It is going to be another busy week starting off tomorrow with a two day sewing machine class with Bernina. My free time will be impacted. The week holds a line up of appointments. Having the evening will be a nice break.

Here is what I am thinking:

  • 2025 SJ Temp Moon Phases (Jan WIPGO)
  • Shabby Winter Calendar (Jan WIPGO)
  • Fieldguide to Dragons
  • Spring Stitching Season
  • Fruit of Plenty
  • Start of Sweet Santa (from the February Ornament Club)

I think I have done a good job with my expectations. I still need to kit the ornament 🤞🏼. I think I have everything on hand but not positive.

Have a great weekend. Don’t forget to stop by on Tuesday to see my quilty projects.
