Welcome back! Not as many projects this week but some nice progress towards my goals.
After having days of overcast and windy, it is nice out today with a high of 77F. Very nice fall weather. Perfect Fall day. Guess that is why I am finding so much joy stitching autumn and halloween this month.
Starts & Finishes
No new starts and just one finish this week. But this finish was a pleasant surprise finish.
FINISH: August Calendar Crates by Stitching with the Housewives
I knew I was getting close but didn’t realize until last week how close. I am so excited to finish this one! My favorite thing to stitch was the actual Sunflower Seeds sign. I really enjoyed it.
This was stitched on 14ct chalkboard black aida with the called for Classic Colorworks floss. Can’t wait to start September!
WIP Updates
If you joined me last week, you may remember that I was going to Monterey for the weekend. Normally I try to only take one project (typically a WIPGO) on this weekend excursions. I picked October Snapshot.
WIPGO: October Snapshot by Pine Mountain Designs
While I always take my stitching when I travel, I rarely get the kind of time that I do at home to stitch. I felt so motivated to work on this WIPGO project as it unfolded before my eyes. I find it hard to believe that I am only halfway. I just have to stitch the word “October” in its banner.
This project is in my new cross stitch app Markup R-XP. I suspect that it is counting blanks somewhere…
WIPGO: Fall is in the Air by Fat Quarter Shop – A Stitch Quarterly
This chart is also in Markup R-XP. It is another scanned chart and the program seems to struggle with those. It says I have twice as many stitches than I really have. I have 345stitches left out of 2874. By my calculation I am 88% done. I have a leaf and the word “FALL” left. I am thinking it will defintely be a finish this month.
It was so cool to finish the tree last night and start on the words. So exciting. But my favorite thing to stitch has still been these cute fox.
August Stackables by It’s Sew Emma
I can’t believe how long it has taken me to stitch this jar of honey. Doesn’t it look adorable though? I love this thread color Classic Colorworks Honeycomb. Just gorgeous. Believe it or not there is two different colors of teal to give it that mason jar feel. Sometimes I wish I stitched faster, then I realize I just enjoy the stitching and slow is fine.
2024 SJ Temperature Library by Kristi’s Corner
You can see how it cooled off a lot here in San Jose. It sure is fun to follow the temperatures. I am doing the highs. I feel like I am participating in Fantasy Weather or something. 😝 What a great project.
October Year of Celebration Season 2 by Hands on Design
This month’s project hasn’t been any different than the rest of this series. There are so many tiny details it takes forever with lots of color changes. The end results is worth it. What do you think of that white pumpkin with all those jack o’lantern faces. Unique right?
Upcoming Plans & Thoughts
No travel plans this week. Actually not a lot of plans this week. After a very busy last week, I am looking forward to a normal routine. Monday will be another Quilt Zoom day and I have been cutting and prepping in the afternoons and then doing handwork and cross stitch in the evenings. Last week’s plan got rearranged a wee bit. Instead some of those things will be this week.
- WIPGO: Fall is in the Air
- Fruit of Plenty
- Oct 14-18 on the Temperature Library
- Starting September Monthly Markings
- Finishing up October Year of Celebration
- Autumn Stitching Season
- Snowman Collector: The Shepherd
- Seaside Tiny Town
This is the plan anyway. LOL. I am still having issues with charts I have imported into Markup R-XP that have been scanned. Slowly learning the ins and outs. Definitely best to have an original PDF pattern to upload. They are a slam dunk.
I uploaded a few free patterns that I have gotten from Hello from Liz Matthews Pateron membership and from Primrose Cottage Stitches newsletter. So easy. So fast. So fun.
I normally buy paper patterns and then scan them. I like having the paper patterns, but I think I am going to become more of a PDF pattern girl whenever I can. There is nothing that says I can’t print the pattern out to touch whenever I need it.
Well that is it for this week. I am on track with all my goals especially my WIPGO goals. Enjoying all my autumn/halloween stitches. Thanks for stopping by. Love reading comments, but I am not always quick about replying. That is the problem with being retired, I am doing more than I am working on my computer.

I’m going to check out that cross stitch app. Love the white pumpkin with the faces on it. Nala looks adorable under that cross stitch piece. Glad you are enjoying the fall weather!
Hello and glad to know you have some normalcy coming up! You’ve been a busy bee! I absolutely love the Fall Is In The Air fox. So adorable! The sunflower finish is so cute! I know your penchant for all things yellow and this is so you! Keep it up and I can’t wait to see what you have in store for the next few months!
